Flying Santorini to Kos

by tashimommy

Does anyone know if there are direct flights from Santorini to Kos?
If not, is there any other way to travel from Santorini to Kos instead
of using the overnight ferry?

Private planes to charter?

Are there any direct flight from Santorini to Kos?

Your only other option other than flying back to Athens first would be to take the highspeed ferry south to Crete (less than 2 hours) and then fly from Crete to Kos on www.skyexpress.gr. Unfortunately the schedules will probably require you to spend the night on Crete, so you might as well kill 2 birds with one stone and take the overnight ferry.

Be advised that the SkyExpress planes are small. The baggage allowances are small and strict so be sure to read the fine print.

Thank you so much - this was helpful.

Re: Santorini to Kos - from a ferry user of many years experience

There are direct Bluestar ferries and running from Santorini to Kos, every 2 days.

Also ANEK ferries 2x per week to Rhodes and then another ferry to Kos.

Quite straightforward.

Travel Tips for Santorini Island

Cheapest Internet Access In Town

by johngayton

There are several cafes and bars that provide free WiFi if you have your own machine - one such is Cafe Classico, overlooking the caldera. But if you are travelling machineless the best Internet Cafe in the town is this one. I don't know its name but the machines are up-to-date, it's not expensive, connection is good and coffee excellent.

Friendly multi-lingual staff are a double-plus benefit!

This is pretty much centrally-located on the town's mini square.

Sunsets at Oia

by SirRichard

Oia is the place to be at sunset. It's the northernmost point, and it has a beautiful view of the sunset...
BUT, it's horribly crowded, hundreds of people gather there 1 hour before sunset to see the "show". And they clap hands when it finishes.

Local food and drinks

by Helga67

What to drink?
Ouzo: an anise drink served with or without water

What to eat?
Mezes: Greek appetizers, fava (mashed fava beans = some kind of yellow splitt-peas) and tomatokeftes (tomato pancakes) are Santorini's specialties

Church of Spring of Life

by csordila

The iconic Santorini symbol is probably the Oia panorama with the blue domed churches and those are perhaps also the most visited and most striking scene on the island.
However, there are more than 200 other pretty church just waiting for your visit.
One of them you can find by walking around Kamari's Mesa Vouno mountain.
In the middle of the path leading uphill, you can find the church of Zoodochos Pigi. The church, built in the depths of an enormous rock, lies under the shadow of two huge trees.

A perfect place to rest in the cooling shade and admire the panoramic view of Kamari that lies about 200 meters below. Zoodochos Pigi is actually a white extension of the rock and offers an unbelievable natural spring of drinkable water.

The clear and cool water lies on a natural rock bowl in the cave and absolutely justifies the name of the church since Zoodochos Pigi means Life-giving Fountain.

Fishing gear

by Saagar about don't know

On the main lower road out of Fira toward the airport, but withiin easy walking distance from the bus terminal, is a small ironmonger store and they carry lots of fishing and sports & beach gear, too.
Aimed at a local market, there is no kitch here. Some interesting local fishing eqipment and diving gear. Regular, local price, not a tourit hike-up
