six months travel planning route for Portugal, Greece, and Italy

6 months travel planning route for Portugal, Greece, and Italy
I am trying to organize a travel route for 3 countries over a 6 month period. The three countries are Portugal, Italy, and Greece. The intended days of travel are November1-April30.
Around November 1, I need to decide where the begin. To narrow down the choices (which places are best in which months), you should know I am planning to do a lot of walking, hiking, trekking, landscape photography looking for blue sky, clear weather (visibility), sunshine, and trying to avoid too much rain, or overcast skies, but storms (with lightning and thunder are ok).
During these 6 months I will see everything, it's just a question of when, and how to order the destinations.
Also please note, I want to see the entire country of Portugal, but only most of Italy (from Sicily to Venice, skipping the Italian alps, and Milan), and just areas in southern Greece (Crete, Cyclades, and Peleponnese).
I will travel slowly, and I can already tell it probably makes sense to reserve March, and April for central, and northern Italy (Tuscany, Venice, Liguria, Rome) - these places may be unattractive in the dead of winter, so better see them in springtime..
However, I can't reserve everything for the spring, I have to be somewhere in January, and February as well, so the question is which is better? Portugal, or Southern Greece?
And then November, and December, again which is better? Portugal, or Southern Greece?
Having said all that, where do you think I should go for each month?
Thanks in advance.

Italy in the Spring, around Easter time is very, very expensive. You may want to take that into consideration.

Traveling between November and February will be the same miserable, rainy and windy does not matter where Crete or Portugal.
It will be a challenge to find a hotel on Crete with heat. MOst of them are built for summer tourism. You may be lucky with Heraklion, but then again Heraklion is the least attractive town on Crete. Portugal has some chain hotels that should be all year long hotels but those are located in the main cities and close to the airports. Forget about finding something in the fishing villages.
You may want to research Cyprus, as it is the warmest Greek (half Greek) Island.
During the time you mentioned Europeans fly for vacation to Morocco, Egypt, Thailand, and Canary Islands (just to mention few)

I've noticed that even a lot of basic hotel rooms now have a combination heat pump/AC unit mounted on the wall, so getting heat isn't necessarily the problem it once was.

I should have mentioned that I am referring to Greece.

brotherleelove are you referring to Greece or Crete in particular, because I have not seen those on Crete. I know Myconos and Santorini will have those as people tend to travel there off season.

I was generalizing about Greece in general and Santorini specifically. Even my room in Athens had one.

Travel Tips for Santorini Island
If You Haven't Booked Your Accommodation......
by johngayton
..........no sweat. As with all the islands, and even as I noticed in Delphi when the bus arrived, the local hoteliers with rooms to let will be down at the dock awaiting the boat's arrival. Feel free to barter and to play people against each other - if you tell someone that they are too expensive, say so loudly and there will probably be someone else who'll offer you a cheaper deal!
Architecture
by Helga67
I loved the picturesque whitewashed villages on the top of impressively high cliffs with the small white cubed houses with blue doors and windows and caves built in the hill. This was so typical for the island.
Kamari Beach
by Lilasel
The beautiful black sandy beach of Kamari streches for five miles in length along the eastern coast of the island. You don't have to walk far to find tavernas on the seafront as well as restaurants, hotels, tourist shops and entertainment spots. A number of water sports are also available like water skiing, windsurfing and paddle boats. From Fira you can take the bus to Kamari with frequent service.
Too much sunlight
by BurgerQueen
Do not forget your sunglasses: most of the buildings and streets are often repainted in white and it can be really difficult to manage the sun reflection.
A pashmina/scarf can also be very useful, Santorini is very windy and after sunset can become fresh. If you have a film camera, buy films with less than 100 ISO. I used 100 ISO films and unfortunately the colours of my pictures do not reflect the real wonderful colours of the island :-(
The Place to Snorkel!
by Vic5
Ammoudi is a little port down below Oia. There are a couple of restaurants and further along the path is the spot for great snorkelling!
If you want to do any sunbathing then get there early as there is only a small amount of space and once the flat bits are taken you just kind of have to find room amongst the rocks.
The water here is gorgeous and is definitely ideal for snorkelling.
