Family run Beachside Hotel

The Boathouse is a family run waterfront Hotel on Kamari Beach (not to be confused with the Boathouse Taverna just 2 doors away!) We enjoyed 3 nights here in one of their deluxe rooms with air - conditioning, telephone, safe-box, bathroom - bath with shower over- and balcony with seaview; we were on the ground floor so actually it was a pool view. Pool towels are provided so no need to bring your own and the beach is literally steps away too. Breakfast is included - a good buffet with bacon and eggs as well as cheese and meats, cereals, fresh fruit salad - served by the pool or as we were on the ground floor could have on our own balcony.
The hotel is at the quieter end of Kamari about - just a 5-minute walk from its centre and about a 15-minute bus ride from the main town of Thira. Room rate being low season was just 58 euros per night per room - we booked via venere.com and got a slight discount from room rate quoted on main hotel web site.

Unique Quality: We really enjoyed the location - not had a hotel so close to the beach before and restaurants - so many to choose from even closer. Guest have 10% discount in the Almira restaurant a few steps away. As always the best meal we had was on the last night - the SeaSide restaurant, located just next door! Staff were friendly and soon helped us out with our request for car hire for a day and taxi transfer to the airport - Kamari is not far from the airport and the planes did come in fairly though low but there are not that many flights during the day and fewer at night so noise did not really bother us.

Although Fira is just a short ride away we enjoyed our stay on both sides of the island - it was such a contrast with Kamari being more laid back.

More about The Boathouse Hotel

Great find!!!

by TripAdvisor Member MelisaMontreal

Boathouse hotel in Santorini was a great find for the price. We were given a sea view room with spacious balcony overlooking the pool and sea. The rooms were basic but clean. The pool area was beautiful and the breakfest was generous and delicious. The hotel owners were very kind and welcoming. They provided us with a pickup from the port and helped us rent a car. I really enjoyed my stay at the Boathouse and would recommend it to anyone who wants to be located in that area.
Kamari beach is nice but the Red Beach is a must!
A trip to Oia for dinner and sunset is mandatory to have said that you experienced Santorini to its fullest.

Fantastic!!

We absolutely loved the Boathouse and had a fabulous stay there, so great in fact that we stayed two days longer than we had originally planned. The hotel was small enough to feel homey and to meet mostly everyone else staying there (which was fun!) but big enough to have a wonderful pool area, a bar right beside and an adjoining restaurant. The restaurant was also great and a close place to eat. The American style breakfast served at the hotel pool deck was delicious!
All the staff were so friendly and courteous. We were picked up at the airport and taxis and car rentals were arranged for us throughout our entire stay. Diane, the owner, also helped us with information about the island, lent us books, told us about all the "must-see" places on Santorini and the easiest way to see those places.
The hotel itself was so clean. The rooms were spatious and comfortable and they had AC, fantastic! We are looking forward to going back to Santorini and we would definitely stay at the Boathouse Hotel again. It really felt like our home away from home! And Diane, if you have any job openings, just let me know and I'm there! :D

Friendly and Comfortable

by TripAdvisor Member MBK_Victoria

We spent 6 days at the Boathouse Hotel on Kamari Beach. The location was perfect for us, being right on the ocean on the end of a relatively quiet beach strip with lots of restaurants, shops and anything else that we might want. It was May though, and we're told that it gets much busier by July.
Spiros, the owner, picked us up at the port and explained all about the history of the area as he drove us to our hotel. Diane, his wife, greeted us and explained some of the must see places. Both were very friendly and we had lots of chats on the terrace by the pool bar since they winter in Vancouver - just a hop away from Victoria. Our son had some trouble catching his plane because of a strike in Athens, and Angie was great relaying his messages to us and even giving him some pointers on ferries.
The morning breakfasts on the terrace were great. Some people might want more variety for breakfast, I found it just enough selection for my tastes, and I loved the fresh fruit mix.
Although basic, our room was comfortable and airy and sitting out on the balcony with the view of the ocean was a real plus.
Most evenings we'd gather around the pool bar and Spiros would pour us drinks and tell us about the Greece. By the time we left we'd made many friends.

WAY above and beyond!!

by TripAdvisor Member KAMPCS

My wife and I stayed at The Boathouse on our tour of Greece in October. We stayed three nights with Spiros and his staff and could not have been happier!

Spiros picked most of our party up at the port and brought them to the hotel talking with them about the island and some of the things to see and or do while there.

The room had a large balcony with a beach view at pool level, two double beds, a small refrigerator, a safe and was quite clean.

On our first night we had purchased some wine and chose to sit around the pool with all of our travelling companions but had no cork-screw--no need to worry, even with his own bar there, Spiros brough us a cork-screw, as well as glasses for us to use.

On our final night Spiros was 'tending bar' so to speak, having all of the guests stop and have a drink on him. We wound up sitting there talking and drinking with him for hours--it was the perfect send-off!

When I get back to Santorini, the only place I will even consider staying is The Boathouse.

Good location for Santorini

by TripAdvisor Member TravellerTM

We stayed in the boathouse September 2006, and have to say that we had no problems there. The rooms was cleaned daily, the staff was friendly and the location is perfect. It is 10 meters from the beach. and it has a small pool and bar. On the downside I would have to mention that the rooms are dated, and all you will find in the room is a bed, a desk, small fridge and a aircondition unit. The ensuite was similar and this was also cleaned every day. The hotel is under the flightpath off all flights landing at the island, this combined with no spound proofing probably make this hotel a better choice for grown ups than kids. But you have to take into consideration that the price is pretty good so overall it is a good package for the not so luxury minded traveller.

You cant get any better than this!

by TripAdvisor Member MelissaPerth

This hotel was the highlight of our six week trip througout europe. The location is probably the best in Kamari as it is up the quiet end of the restaurant strip but not too far from all the action. Definetly book a room at the front of the hotel, where you will have your own little courtyard and be right near the bar, pool and beach views. The owners are fantastic and have a restaurant a few doors away which is also great. The rooms aren't anything special but they are VERY clean with quality fittings and enough for what you need. You honestly cannot go past this hotel for it's location, quality and price. Just make sure that you arrange for one of the owners to pick you up from the ferry when you arrive.

great place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member TimSS

The boathouse is a wonderful place. The staff is great, very helpful, and you’re treated like good friends. The location of the hotel is on the north end of Kamari beach. The Almira restaurant located next to the Boathouse was great.

Ironed sheets/large rooms

by TripAdvisor Member Nikki4

Nicely run family hotel right on Kamari Beach. Great value for location, great breakfast poolside which encourages meeting other guests, ironed sheets and large basic rooms.

Get the pizza on the menu with capers, tomatoes, olives and prosciutto at their restaurant, Almira.

Great Kamari Experience !!!

by TripAdvisor Member Raeanne418

We stayed at The Boat House Hotel from May 24th- June 2nd 2007 and it was such a pleasure. Owner's are very friendly and make the Santorini experience like staying with family. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to stay in an extremely budget friendly hotel with the most beautiful atmosphere. Look forward to staying there again!
