'The hotel oasis is the best Hotel on Rhodes' . Thats what we were told in 1983 when we were on the coach from the airport on our package tour there was only Me my mum and Dad and another couple (who we became great friends with) left on the coach and we had seen all these lovely hotels were people had been dropped off we had started to get a little worried as numbers dwindled.
I think that that tour rep was right! It is the best and but for a 2 year break my Mum and Dad have been every year since.
Every Year we have stayed at the Oasis, we first went when the hotel was only a year old. my Mum and dad have gone every year upto 2006 when after that the hotel was going to be rented out to an Italian tour company and so thinking that the Hotel would then be changed for the worst from our point of view we did not go the year after and for the next couple.
The Italian company went bust though and so the Hotel is once again fully open to people from all over the world.
The Hotel won awards when it was built as it is constructed around old Olive and fruit trees, It is spread out and all the Rooms are in blocks with the pool and outdoor bar snack area in the center. The main building is by the main road that goes around the island and houses the reception, Bar, Restaurant and some rooms.
All rooms now have air con, in the old days we just had to make do with open windows and a fan oh and lots of insect repellent.
There are fridges but no cookers, food is available at the Poolside snack bar during the day or there are 2 tavernas next door. Sadly only one is doing food at the moment (Flora's) as our friend Paulo who owns the Old House Taverna is finding things difficult at the moment due to the ecomomical crisis.
All the Hotel staff are very friendly and as it is a Family run hotel you will really feel at home.
meals are now served buffet style as the Hotel has adopted a all inclusive mandate after an Italian company rented the hotel and let it out to their customers as all inclusive. sadly the company went bust owing the hotel money (as is usualy the case with travel companys) They have struggled but managed to carry on and offer somne really good deals.
They used to have a wide range of animmals from chickens to Ostriches Monkeys to Deer they have reduced the ammount of annimals to help reduce costs but there are still a good ammount.
If you want to go to Rhodes for a Holiday i would really recomend The Oasis Hotel - Bungalows
The Oasis Hotel is a fabulous place to stay, especially if you enjoy being surrounded by nature and beauty. The two storey apartments are set amidst Olive groves, palm trees, banana trees and many many more fruit bearing trees - all of which were coming into fruition during our stay at the beginning of September. It is situated just off the main road to Lindos and is a 15 minute walk away from Afandou village and a ten minutes walk away from the great Afandou beach.
We stayed on an all inclusive basis which meant all our meals and drinks (soft drinks, Beer and Wine) were free during mealtimes and most of the day. Our meals were served al fresco from the pool bar with an array of tables surrounding the pool underneath the beautiful trees. The food was really nice, served as a buffet so you can try out different things. The staff worked really hard, were very polite and cheerful - even breaking into song whilst cleaning the tables.
The rooms were spacious and well equipped with a fridge, air conditioning, tv and dvd player and plenty of storage space. Each room has a balcony with a table and chairs for you to enjoy some evening relaxation after a busy day sightseeing. The bathrooms were a little dated but just added to the character of the place; everything was kept spotlessly clean.
A rather unique feature of the Oasis is that the owners are animal lovers and keep some rather unusual pets in a field next door to the apartments. I saw an Emu walking around the lower end of the field, some deer, birds and huskies. There are also lots of very well fed cats living in the grounds which keep the children amused for hours.
The Oasis is really well situated for the local bus to Lindos in one direction and Faliraki & Rhodes town in the other. Either side of the Hotel is a bar on one side and Flora's restaraunt on the other. There is a very nice supermarket just a ten minutes walk away (turn right when you go out of the hotel).
