Hotel Titania is described on many sites as a C-class hotel. This is accurate. It is fairly cheap (I got a single room at the start of July for EUR 35 a night), and located 50m from the waterfront in central Pigadia. The staff are friendly and helpful, the room cleaning is fine. But this is bargain basic. There is no pool, my first purchase was air-freshener (last guest was a smoker), the bar is only ever occupied by the staff and family (but they are friendly); and the security boxes are about as secure as your high-school locker (albeit with someone sitting 5m away). The location is great for the local restaurants and bars (2 mins away), taxis (right across the road) and local bus service (10 minutes walk away). But you are half an hour from the beach.
Ants on the balcony (not really unique, and I kept chopping off bits of the bougainvillea so I had room to go out. Rear-side rooms have view of bougainvillea and yard, front rooms look out over main road.
A nice hotel only 50m. from the beach and a short walking distance from the city center. The service is good and the pool is nice. The lack of a restaurant was the only thing that bothered. The
bar served ice cream and toasts.
In August 2006 we spent two weeks in Amoopy, at Amoopi Bay Hotel.
The hotel is overlooking the sea and enjoys a fantastic view of the bay.
Even thought the beginning of our stay was difficult (cold shower, lights that went off because the island had not enough energy to face the demand), after a couple of days the staff fixed all and our stay was really pleasant.
Rooms were small, and furniture was basic, but we had all we needed. We also had a nice patio with a table and two chairs. No air conditioning, but just open the window and enjoy the strong Meltemi!
No great choice for breakfast, but there's enough to have a good start for the day. Good dinner (no choice, but all the meals were tasty).
Nice swimmingpool and friendly staff at the swimmingpool bar.
I suggest this hotel because it is economic, near to the beaches (15 minutes on foot to reach the furthest) and it offers everything it is necessary for a quiet holiday.
