No steps ,Ideal for disabled ,nice outlook back & front.Easy to get to a pool & also shops & bars. Also great for the harbour& beach!
Room - was perfectly adequate, 2 glasses 2 cups etc. Good full sized fridge, electric kettle, single hob and a selection of saucepans. We didnt cook anything but it would have been enough to prepare breakfast or lunch. Maid service every other day who provided clean towels but we did need to buy own toilet paper after the 1st roll. Nice little balcony with patio table and 2 chairs and light. Beds ok, working lights. Shower room\WC as you would expect in a 2.5 star SC apartment in Greece. Overall very clean and no complaints.
Swimming pool - brilliant, big enough to have a swim, very clean and lots of sun loungers and
umbrellas around the pool. Very safe childrens section.
Taverna - Breakfasts were excellent. The other food was a bit hit and miss, burger yuk, chicken kebab acceptable, but then who wants burgers in Greece! Good home made wine sold by the carafe 3.5 Euros for .5 litre, not bad! Good selection of other drinks and food, open from 7:30 in the morning until late - at least midnight if not later.
Staff - Friendly and most speak good English and very helpful.
Only a five minute walk to the main road, no hills to negotiate. Just an aside - avoid Captain Johns Taverna awful food, apart from that everything else we tried was fine, espcially Santa Barbara Taverna, went a couple of times and each meal was lovely - seemed to be the general opinion of the people we spoke to.
A lot of the residents seem to go back to the Mayflower year after year.
The one moan I do have about the holiday as a whole (booked through Olympic Holidays) - most flights do not arrive until very late at night/early morning, we arrived at 05:00 on the Sunday and were not getting our transfer back until 02:00 the following Sunday morning. To keep our room on until 20:00 it cost us an extra 25 Euros which I thought was a bit over the top. Considering the timings of it all, I think that 20:00 should have been a given.
What can I say? Not only is the island of Kos a fabulous place, with fabulous people and a fantastic hisorty, and just when you couldn't ask for anything more, they give you the Pantheon. Now I'm not saying its 5 star luxury, but it is perfect for what you want on the average persons holiday. Due to its location it is not in any way possible for those with physical difficulties, or probably young children... although for the lazy ones that either of the previous categories dont apply to Babis - the owner - runs a green minibus several times a day from the Pantheon to the cash machine, near to the road leading to Old Kefalos. If all else fails the bus stop is jsut around the corner!
The service supplied in the Pantheon is exceptional, it is beyond recognition and cannot be praised enough! Babis, Maria, Janet and Panos are absolutely fabulous. The Pantheon hold a BBQ each Thursday (I think) which I plan on enjoying in about two weeks time :)
Basically if you are looking for a quiet, relaxed holiday and you dont mind having a bit of a hill to contend with, the Pantheon is perfect!
The Pantheon has the most amazing views. It looks out down the hillside to the resort and the island of Kastri. From the back of the appartments you can look out onto the other side of the island too.
The room we stayed in was in Kefalos, back on the road towards the Limonas. It has blue around the windows and doors. It was simple yet beautiful, there are neighbors but far enough away to not bother you at night, not hardly any traffic, so not too much noise from scooters, only the occasional tourist bus. It was a large room, with a toilet, small kitchen and balcony, again so simple but so perfect for it's surroundings matched it's simple beauty. If you like it quiet and yet still close enough to walk, down the mountain to the night life, then these rooms are for you. The rent was quite reasonable and the longer we stayed, we were told, the cheaper our rent would be. Again, there was no name but there are two cell phone numbers posted in front of the rooms, by the wall, simply phone one of them and a girl will answer to give you more information. It is ideal for those wishing quiet beauty and simple living. Can't wait to go back again.
The view is one of a typical Greek island, you see the occasional goat walking by, no pool, no crowds, no hussle or bussle just simple relaxation and a short drive or leasurly walk to the cafes, night life, shopping or village. My heart aches just thinking about it.
We stayed for a week in the Stamatia apartments on the hill side in Kefalos. The apartments were a good size but basic like many places in greece. The rooms had a kitchenette with two hob rings, microwave and kettle, The rooms had a tv, two single beds and a balcony with great views over the village and the sea. On the bad side the owners who lived down stairs seemed quite noisey at times and there is no pool here although if you go to one of the many near by pools as long as you busy a drink, ice cream or food you can use it free of charge and use the sunbeds. Also in the bathroom of the room there is no tray for the shower and the drain it was meant to go down it didn't......so all the water went under the door into the main room.....but on the plus side the maid came straight away to sort it out so wasn't too much of a problem. The maid also came to the room once a day once we had gone out and made the beds and cleaned and was very friendly when we saw her.
There were a few good points to this place as well, one being the amazing views down over the town and sea. From here you could see the little island with the church on just out to sea. Also it was out of the main village so was so quiet and peaceful (about from the greeks wizzing by on there mopeds at night!!) but was only about a 5/10 minute walk down to the sea front and bars and restaurants and only a few minutes walk to the supermarket and the nearest pool we could use.
The price i have marked $180 and up is for a week!
We have just returned from a week at Maria & Zak’s family owned & run hotel. The Hotel is very clean and kept to a high standard. The rooms are simply furnished – ours was a family room with a separate bedroom with double bed, but the standard rooms are twin beds. The whole place has recently undergone a renovation and is freshly painted with new patio doors and screens. The public areas are much more modern than you would expect with cream leather sofas and a swish bar. The breakfast is of the traditional Greek variety – roll, bread, butter jam, orange squash, coffee, but is well done with beautiful fresh bread rolls every morning. Plenty of pool loungers, with mattress & umbrellas, meant there was never a fight to get one. Doors can echo when slammed shut, but this is to be expected when all the halls and rooms have marbled floors – we never found it to be a big issue and it did not disturb either of our 3 & 7 yr old daughters slumber. Hairdryer & iron in room with option for air-con, which was not needed in Sept. Most of all, the place was run with real care and everyone could not have been friendlier. We would recommend the place to anyone.
Surrounded by trees, fields and some great mountain views, the Hotel Zeus is situated on the outskirts of Kefalos and is within strolling distance of nearby tavernas and a mini market. This bright and cheerful hotel is family run, with clean, comfortable rooms and a friendly atmosphere.
