More about Alice Springs Hotel
Our Extended Family
If you want a fun filled holiday in a hotel run by a joker then Alice Springs is for you, on the other hand if you want to be treated like a number rather than a member of the family then go elsewhere.
Gearge and his family treat you as part of it.
As soon as you arrive you will be called by your name(How he can remember you all is beyond me)
Even though you see George rushing about for what seems 24 hours a day he still has time to stop and chat to everyone, his wife Barbara, sister Rita, son Ilias and daughter in law Maria(now with little Barbara) all work very hard to make you feel at home.
The bar food available is superb and served from 8am till late. If you like your breakfast then try The Alice Springs breakfast ..... Toast, 2 eggs, sausage, beans, bacon(tastes like honey glazed), juice and tea or coffee and for diner try Georges home made Mousaka, its superb!!!
If you want to eat out there are plenty of places to choose from within walking distance or ask George to recommend somewhere.
If you need a hire car then again ask George or Barbara and they will arrange it for you, free delivery and collection from the hotel, or for you bike fans there is a rental centre near by that hire out trikes!
All in all we had a wonderfull time which is down to such wonderfull hosts.
We will be returning at the end of season to see the family!
George has even offered to sort out our wedding plans for us ... What a star!
See you soon George, Barbara, Rita, Ilias, Maria, Little Barbara, the dogs and last of all Alice the Turtle
The most amazing time of my life!
At first I was apprehensive about travelling to Kos with my fiance Roy as i knew it was going to be a lot different from what i am used to.
From the moment we arrived at the Alice Springs (which was earlier than the coach transfer as we got a private taxi, which i strongly reccomend, even if the price is a bit mad!) we were greeted by George at the front door, who had the most amazingly cheerful smile i have ever seen!
He introduced himself and asked us which room we would prefer and which location in the hotel we would like. we got a room literally 3 feet from the pool and it was in such great condition we couldnt quite believe it.
we then were introduced to George's wife, Barbara, and one of his two sons, Elias. I have never met a more caring, friendly family and i dont think i ever will.
Another reviewer described alice springs as 'home away from home' and i dont think it can be summed up any better. whatever we needed, we were provided with. the bar doesnt close until the last person goes to bed, and Elias, bless him, probably had no sleep all week because of the crowd we were staying with.
A must visit is the Sunset resteraunt only a 5 minute walk away from the hotel. we made amazing friends with them and only stayed a week. also, for hiring out cars and bikes, the angel company just around the coner from the hotel is amazing, cheap and friendly.
overall, i cannot express our delight to stay at alice springs, and we are already booking time off work to visit again before the end of the season. it really is that good!
Thank you so much George, Barbara, Elias and Rita. you are all amazing people and run the most amazing hotel in the world!

May 5th-12th 2007.
What a wonderful week we had, we didn't want to leave!
This is a family run hotel and we would like to thank George, Barbara, Rita and Elias for being the perfect hosts.
From the moment we arrived Elias was there to greet us and the bar was open for us to have a drink, even though it was 4.00am!! Does he never sleep?
The rooms are spotless and the pool and garden area are great places to relax.
A must are the BBQ and Kleftiko nights, George is a great chef.
The hotel is a 20min walk from the centre of Kos Town, were you will find an abundance of shops, bars and resturants and fascinating ancient ruins. You are also only 100m from the beach.
We would recommend the Alice Springs to everyone.

simply the best
We stayed at Alice springs the 1st week of the season, and thought they wouldnt be very busy, we were wrong George, babara ilias and not forgetting the fabulas rita are so welcoming and the perfect hosts for a perfect holiday.
We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment which was very spacious and spotlessly clean. George & his aussie sister Rita have a great sense of humour and his wife the darling Barbara and son ilias worked endlessly to make sure everyone has a good time.A must is Georges bbq night well organised, fab food and what can we say about the games!!! ive never laughed so much definatley not to be missed. another must is the kleftico night you want greek food this was simply the best george told me how to cook it and gave me the herb mixture but mine was not as good as the masters. The Alice Springs team really make you feel special and welcome everyone as part of thier family how they remember eveyones name is amazing any help you need from hiring a car, bike, boat trip or the best place to eat they can advise you although we all used to end up at the sunset resturant 10 mins round the corner. we have been all over greece in the last 12 years and Alice Springs is SIMPLY THE BEST

Brilliant time had by all
We have been back 2 days and have had the best time. We arrived on May 12th/13th 2007. Elias was there to show us to our rooms. We booked the BBQ as we read the reviews and were not disappointed. I will be looking at the prices to book next year as we have never been looked after like this anywhere else. Thanks especially to Elias and George for great service at all times. See you next year, Paula and Mark. x
Great holiday in the sun
Me and Kev enjoyed a great time at this family run hotel. It was like a home from home.
The beer hit the spot every day. We found the pool area to be clean and socialble. We very much enjoyed the BBQ night with the Greek dancing.
The only complaint was that the tea wasn't the best so I had do drink orange juice at breakfast.
The hotel itself was very clean and well run.
Kos is a wonderfull place to stay and would come back again.
This was our second stay at the Alice Springs hotel and after much fun last year decided to meet up with friends there this year! George Barbara and Elias &Rita made it a fab time once again. What can I say about this hotel, it has everything you need for a good relaxing break. Good location, good food, spotlessly clean rooms, clean towels every day and we had lovely fresh roses picked out of the gardens in our room the day after we arrived!! Those girls spoil us but boy do they work hard. George was his usual jokey self and anyone who's been here will know what I mean!! As usual the atmosphere here is on relaxation fun and laughter in abundance! We met up with lots of friends from last year and just had a fabulous time. Barbara and Rita go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need and elias provides the late night bar with charm!! Whilst George runs around looking busy all the time!!!!!!!!! This truly is one of the Best hotels on this little Island and there was no less than 9 couples with children from last year there again this time. I think that just says it all, go you wont be dissappointed!!!! Thanks to all for a great holiday and especially our mates bel&mac for putting up with us again ! julie & neil.
Very friendly place
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a week, and were made to feel very welcome. George, Barbara and their family and staff work extremely hard to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are kept spotless, with towels changed daily, if you want plenty of space then you should stay in a studio or apartment, as the room only hotel rooms are quite small with a small bathroom, and only one plug socket in the room, but that was the only minus point for the Alice Springs, the pool area is lovely, food at the snack bar good, as I said everyone is really welcoming, say hi to Rita for us if you go, she works really hard. Don't miss the Kleftico night, George's lamb is brilliant! They also do a great barbeque night ,which we missed because we booked a trip to the Volcanic island of Nissyros. Watch out if you travel with Thomson, the rep doesn't tell you that the trip is an afternoon departure until you have booked! We missed the barbeque because of this, she said we would be back for 9pm and it was nearer 10.15pm when we got back. The trip is a good one though saying that. The hotel is also only about a 15/20min stroll to Kos Town, which is very handy for an evening out, although it's lovely to just sit and chill out at the hotel bar making friends with other guests. All in all I'd recommend this place highly to anyone.
Not all its cracked up to be!
After reading the reviews for this hotel we thought it was going to be outstanding. Yes, George and Barbara we very nice - can't argue with that. However we arrived to no bathroom light, no sink plug and to very uncomfortable beds and lumpy pillows. The plug and light took 24 hours to rectify and the hired fridge took a day and a half to arrive (we were only there for the week! ) As a result we ended up having to throw food away. The other problem was that there were not enough sunbeds and even when we took the trouble to get up early we got down to find that they had been nicked! About half of the beds were immediately outside the terraces of the ground floor apartments - so reserve one of those at your peril! Why not put extra sunbeds and parasols in the garden which is only used a couple of evenings a week? That would easily solve this problem. Another gripe is that when it rained there was nowhere to sit except our hotel room and the very small area under the canopy in front of the telly where the football was on. I tried to investigate the comfy looking chairs which I'd seen when we arrived at reception, but it was locked. Finally, don't expect an early night at the weekend as the road at the front is the only way up from the beach front bars and nightclubs and no-one in Kos seems to have silencers on their motorbikes or closing windows to keep the music inside their boy racer cars!
Overall we really enjoyed our week in Kos because the hotel was well situated for walking into town (a very interesting place)and for the beach, but I really felt that the Alice Springs Hotel did not live up to the rave reviews which we had read beforehand.
