DISCOVERY TRIP OF KOS
by balhannah
This is the name of a Bus tour I booked for Kos. A lady at the Ferry Terminal in Bodrum was walking around, handing out leaflets. If you were interested, you then booked with her on the Ferry, and met her outside Passport control at Kos. Here she showed you where the Bus was waiting to take you on tour.
The tour left as soon as everybody was there. We drove along a beach front for about 10kms, then wound our way up to the highest village on the Island. Views were fantastic on the way. Here we stopped for lunch (not included) and had time to explore the village. On the way back, we stopped at Asklepion, those who wanted could go for a look (not included admission) and then headed back to Kos. The Tour guide could speak good English, and gave a commentary the whole way. I saw more of the Island this way and I thought it was good value.
COST IN 2009 WAS 12 Euros.
Hire Companies
by desertgecko
There are loads of hire companies in Kos Town. Hire cars are good if you want to expore the Island at your own leisure. We were recommended Avis Car Hire as they actually do full insurance cover for you. Our rep told us that other companies will offer you insurance but it will not help you if you have an accident.
Cruise Liners
by steventilly
Kos doesn't seem to be a major cruise destination in the way the Rhodes is and only two liners called in there in the week that we were there. Both were from the same cruise line and both looked to be what I would call "old fashioned", though both looked to be very nice.
Cruise ships dock at the jetty at the end of the promentory that the castle sits on.
Town Beach
by steventilly
This is the town beach, as you can see it's ranged out in front of the castle and along towards the tourist info building and the new Art Hotel (see later). It's also backed by the main road. I don't really know what kind of people use this beach when there are other better, quieter places just along the coast, but use them they do.

""Kos" little but sunny !"
KOS is a little Greece island in the North part of de Dodekanisos.
This island has given the world "Hippocrates", father of medicine.
It looks like a huge floating garden. The city is built along a wide bay and catches the eye from the very first moment.
"View at Kefalos"
Kefalos is the most distant village, lying 45 km from Kos town.
It lies on a hill with traditional white houses.
"The `Aliki salt lake`"
The `Aliki salt lake` at Tigaki
The mosted visited sea-shores of the island.
