Are there high speed ferries from kos to rhodes
by shastababe
Hi- We will be arriving by sailboat in Kos on Sat. 10 sep around noon- is there a high speed ferry that goes to Rhodes in the afternoon? What would be the cost. The blue line leaves too early in the am for us. Thanks Martha

The Dodekanissos Express is scheduled to leave Kos at 16.20. I would also think that there will probably be a hydrofoil.
Travel Tips for Kos
Better Beaches
by steventilly
Even better beaches are available at Tigaki, a resort about 12km from Kos Town. This can be reached by bus or by bike (the bike track is a little used road by the coast from Kos). The beaches here are clean, white(ish) sand and have all the facilities you could want. The sea is clear and calm and there are beach bars and tavernas at the back of the beach.
Fishing Boats
by steventilly
Kos Town is still a busy, if small, fishing harbour. The boats are all of the small, independant type and the fishermen sell their wares off the back of the boat (or a small stand on the street by their boat) each morning. None of the sea creatures appealed to me at all (even if I wasn't a veggie) - I think Aegean fish are pretty peculiar looking.
Castle Statues
by sandysmith
As well as shields and friezes being dotted around the Knights castle we also spotted some headless statutes...well it was Dave who had a new toga in Rome so here in the Greek Isle of Kos it was my turn ;-0
Kos

I went on holiday to Kos in 2000. It is the 2nd largest Greek island in the Agean Sea and is actually closer to Turkey than to Greece. We stayed in Kos Town in the North of the island. It is a very relaxed island only 25 miles from end to end. Kos Harbour (see above) is picturesque and lies next to the town holding many shops and traditional restaurants serving freshly caught seafood including Octopus (which was gorgeous).
The public transport was very efficient and cheap and the trips to surrounding islands interesting and enjoyable. For those of you who are looking for more of a night life on the island you would need to go to Kardamena in the centre of the island.
I loved Kos, the people were helpful and friendly and proud of their heritage but not afraid to embrace the modern. Try it.
