RE: Shape Water Park

by Ouzo63

After looking for information on Kos, for the past few days.
Sorry but I think it's a big YES. Not sure when it closed, but there is a big lido water park,it's between Marmari and Mastihari. It has 12 pools and all kinds of slides. there are approx 27 life guards, so you'll be nice and safe.all this for just 17.50 euro per person. Park opened in May 2006. Well thats what it says on web site i found. Try this www.nwotsok.nl/waterpark

Hope this helps you out, have a great time. I'm going there this August, can't wait.

Travel Tips for Kos

Asklepeion

by Helga67

Asklepeion is the biggest archeological site on Kos and worth a visit. It is about 4 km outside of Kos town. Asklepion was a religious sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius, god of healing. It also served as a healing centre and a school of medicine were Hippocrates was teaching. The site has three different levels. On the first level you can see the Roman public baths and the guest rooms. On the second level lies an altar of Apollo, the Temple of Asclepius and the Temple of Apollo. On the third level is another Temple of Asclepius. From here you will have a wonderful view across Kos town and the coastline of Turkey.

Entrance fee: 4 EUR
Opening hours: from Tuesday to Sunday between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm (summer) / 3:00 pm (winter).
There is a blue tourist train from Kos town (in front of the tourist office) to the site.
At the entrance is a small building with toilettes and a bar with chairs. They have delicious fresh orange juice.

Relax at the beach

by Helga67

The best beaches near Kos town (although not the best of the island) can be found at Lambi (in the West) and Psalidi (in the East).
The beaches are pebbled, with a nice view of Turkey. There are no lifeguards, you are responsible for your own safety.
Many hotels, tavernas and beach bars rent out sunbeds and parasols. You will pay between 4 to 6 euros for two chairs and a parasol for a whole day.

Mosque

by steventilly

At the heart of Kos town itself is Eleftherias Square, a large and pleasantly uncluttered square that is bounded by some of the city's finest buildings. Prime amongst these is this, Defterdar mosque with its adjoining fountain. It is no longer a working mosque, the side we can see here being taken up by a cafe/restaurant which looks like a lovely place to sit and relax. Personally though I'd rather sit across the way (from where the photo was taken) and look back at this splendid building.

Hottest Holiday Ive ever experienced

by RuBiQ

"Kos, If you wanna Tan this is the place to come"

Went for 2 weeks back in 2003 with a friend and the girlfriends at the time. Every single day was over 100 degrees and I think at the beginning of week 2 my nose just couldnt take it and the skin fell off leaving me looking like Freddy Kruegar for 2 days I had to hide in the shade.

Remember going to a little island to a place called Bubble Beach which was lovely.

"Sun and Fun"

Not got any pics apart from the above as the Ex nicked them all but it wa a lovely place to go, the only thing I didnt really like was at midnight all the music in all the bars went off therefore leaving just the pitter of peoples drunken screams and shouts around the bars

Music stayed on in soundproof bars but imagine its been 100 degrees all day, the last thing you want is to go into a cramped club with no air con getting sweaty and squashed)

Apart from that though it was a lovely 2 weeks in the fun, Spent most of it on the beach jetbiking, playing volleyball with locals and a spot of birdwatching (ahem) Its the typical holiday you want lazing in summer on a nice beach next too the sea.
