HIPPOCRATES
It is said that this vast plane tree was planted by Hippocrates and that he taught medicine in its shade.
It is so big that a supporting construction had to be build around it to avoid branches to break.

Hello everybody!
I`ve booked my tickets to Kos and arrive by Norwegian at 03:50 02/July. I need to get to Irina Beach Hotel at Tigaki. Could anybody tell me aprox price by taxi there or if there is any bus transfer?
I checked out this given web site to book an advance http://www.kostaxi.eu/transfer.php?langcode=en but the price of 49 €
Airport - Tigaki (one-way transfer) seems a bit too high
Do you think it is easier and cheaper to get taxi just at the airport?
Me and my friend shall stay about 6 days in Kos. Does it make sence to hire a car for a day or two to explore the island or bus connections are ok?
In case of car hire, is it cheaper/better to do it in advance by internet or just get the car in the island?
Any specific day trips to the other Greek islands you could reccomend?
If you already think of renting a car, rent one at the airport and drive yourself to Tingaki. There is no bustransfer from the airport to Tingaki.
From Kos you can do an excursion to the island of Nisyros, former volcano.
Have a good stay !!
ps on Kos you can also rent a bicycle and tour the island !

Thanks a lot Maria!
I`m not sure if it makes sence to rent a car, therefore I ask here for the advise! & days on the Island is not tat much.
Anyway: what is the good deal for a car rent /day- 3 days?/
I wonder about taxi fare from the airpot to the hotell as well

The restaurant is located at a high point overlooking the sea. Aim for a late lunch or early dinner for a full meal-and-view experiene. Enjoy a meal under the sounds of crashing waves and inhale the sea breeze in between. Fresh grilled fish with olive oil and lemon. Beats, steamed with garlic - full of flavor. Sinful french fries - far cry from frozen kind.
This dolphin sculpture (it's actually a fountain though it's often not running) is at the centre of what is known as "Dolphin Square". It's not really a square, more of a traffic roundabout actually, but it's a focal point for the waterfront area. Lots of directions are given relative to Dolphin Square (to Dolphin Square and turn right, etc). Be careful not to get killed by the traffic as you try to take a picture of it (I speak from experience).
The ruins provide something else that is pretty attractive - shade. The ruins themselves and the trees that grow amongst them make them a great place to stop for a while when the sun is at its hottest. And while you're about it they make a great place to eat your picnic, write some postcards and just relax a while. Be sure not to leave any litter though. I was impressed at just how clean most of these places were.
