rainy weather in kos

by vs5162

We booked a trip to Kos, and the weather forecast says it's going to rain.

We'd like to know how bad rains are there in October and what places to visit if the weather is not suitable for the beach and the sea.

Thank You.

RE: rainy weather in kos

Rainy season in Greece is not so discouraging. Rains are heavier on west coast, medium in the mainland and more light in the Aegean islands. Especially the Dodecanese islands (including Kos) do not have high rainfalls. In October most beaches will be deserted. Sea waters are still quite warm but day length (and sunshine length) is limited and thus are not any more attractive for swim.
Good luck

Travel Tips for Kos

IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME

by LysDor

IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME

It's always useful to know few words in the local language:

Ego = I or Me
Esi = You
Aftos/Afti = He / She
Ya = Hi or Bye depending on context
Efxaristo = Thank you
Kalimera = Good morning
Kalinichta = Good night
Katalaveno = I don't understand
Pame = Let's go
Parakalo = You're welcome
Ti kanis = How are you

Fayito = Food
Nero = Water

Pou = Where
Resta = Change (money)
Spiti = Home
Aftokinito = Car
Kalo = Good
..................................................................

DID YOU NOW THAT : Greeks are apparently among the world's most active lovers? (BEWARE LADIES) and NO OFFENCE TO ANYONE :-) having sexual contact once every three days on average, according to a worldwide survey on sexual behavior.

Ranking fourth in terms of sexual contact frequency, Greeks were topped only by the Americans, Russians and the French.

Moreover, at a time when the world average in sexual partners is eight persons, Greeks boast a mean of 15 lovers, while only the French can 'up the ante' with an average of 16.

In regards to contraception, a whooping 90 percent of sexually active Greeks claim to use some form of birth control, with 64 of them preferring condoms.

Kos Town

by kentishgirl

Kos Town is located in the North of the island.
It is home to a big castle which is well worth a visit.

There a small narrow streets with an abudance of shops, sponges are really popular here - I believe that they are made in Kalymnos but are sold in almost all of the shops here in Kos.

Henna tatoos are another popular "toursisty" thing to do.

Walk along the prom, explore the narrow streets and stop for a nice meal at one of the many restaurants.

The Castle is very popular too, although we never visited it-you can see the wall just on the left of the pic.

Agora Entrance

The Agor's main entrance is through through the Porta tou Forou or "door of the taxes" and is beautifully covered with exquisite purple bougainvillea vine. Taxes had to be paid before entering the city in those days.

"Kos"

Went on holiday to Kos (Kardamena) for 2 weeks. Visited Kos Town and Kafalos during this holiday and also went on a day trip to Turkey. Hired a Jeep and went around the Island which was good. Very nice island and people although it is a bit of a nightmare at the airport! :o)
