Goats
by steventilly
Like cats, goats are everywhere. Usually not in the towns of course, but in the countryside and by the beaches. Lindos is no exception. The goats appear wild, but of course belong to someone. They can be a nuisance sometimes, trying to steal your food etc. Don't encourage them by offering them food, or by leaving yours on display. ANd always watch your belongings when goats are around, they will steal anything that they think they can eat.
Sidestreets II
by steventilly
Some of the sidestreets are just complete dead-ends, like this one, but how beautiful it is nonetheless. The very solid looking wooden doors and shutters against the bright whitewashing looks particularly nice. And see the Acropolis towering above it in the background?
Wonderful Views

Even if all these restored colunns and ruins are not your thing then just go for the great views. From the top you have a great view down onto the village of Lindos - seeing all the white houses looking like sugar cubes in the sun.
St. Paul's Bay V
by steventilly
St. Paul's Bay is absolutely gorgeous for swimming in. I've not swam anywhere nicer, in terms of the clearness and warmth of the water. The fact that it's so enclosed keeps the wind down too, and there are practically no waves from either the tide or passing boats. And the views you get from the middle of the bay... Great for kids, great for adults!
Lindos
by steventilly
I'm working on my Lindos page, something I somehow forgot to do after I returned from Rhodes a few months ago!
Lindos is located about half way down the east coast of Rhodes Island, about an hour's bus ride from Rhodes Town.
Lindos is traffic free, all cars being parked at the top of the hill by the main road (where the bus stops) and you then have to walk down into the town.
The town is set about half way down the hill, a maze of streets of rectangular whitewashed houses, mostly with flat roofs. This maze of narrow streets provides shade, and the whitewashing relects the heat of the sun. Both of these are deliberate and welcomed - Lindos is the hottest place on the Island and in the heat of the summer sun would unbearable otherwise.
Further down the hill, beyond the town, are the twin beaches of Lindos Bay. Towering above the town on a rocky precipice is the Acropolis, the historic old city which is now a fascinating and well preserved ruin.
