The beaches.
by Maurizioago
Lindos has two beautiful beaches linked by a path. They aren't far from the town center but you have to climb down lots of stairs to get there.
There are some restaurants and shops at one of these beaches. The other should have one or two restaurants if my memory serves me well.
Flop on the beach

Lindos has two small but fashionable (read: overcrowded) beaches either side of the Acropolis, although we didn't bother as we had far more room right outside our door when staying up the road in Pefki.
We explored three of Pefki's beaches during our week there, all within a 10-minute walk or less from our apartment. The main town beach sits at the bottom of the road from Georges Taverna. Though sandy and well equipped with taverna and a shower, you can hardly see the beach for all the brollies. Plus the sand is dirty, full of cigarette butts and the like.
Next up was Agia Thomas beach down the road from the Pefkos by Night club, where there is the small dock for excursion boats. We found it far quieter here, only six or so brollies, but we were charged 4 euro each for our loungers. Plus, the water had a rocky bottom which, although smooth and not rough on the feet, was a bit slick and unnerving to walk across without flip-lops.
We hit jackpot with Agia Plakia, which is basically an extension of Agia Thomas further along out of town. Instead of going down the road at Pefkos by Night you carry along the road to Lardos another couple minutes before you'll see a sign. There is a tavera at one end but only a couple loungers so you'll have to make do with your own towels to get comfy. There were acres of space to spread out, the sand shelved gently into the warm water and there were some rock pools to explore. Five stars!
Other great beaches to seek out on the island are at Tsambika and Plimiri, which you can read more about on my pages for Rhodes Island.
Donkey Path
by sandysmith
OK so you want to walk up to the acropolis of Lindos?
Well there are 2 options - but both I recommend to do in the morning and not the heat of midday.
First is the donkey path - obviously this is the route the donkeys take but ther is nothing to stop people walking this way too. You'll get good views over the sea as you climb but you will have great views from the top of the acropolis anyway if you decide against this option. The path is fairly gradual, although a bit steeper towards the top. Take some water with you!
Far Reaching Views

Opposite the Acroplolis you will see a long stretch of land, known as Cape Agios Emilianos, which at the end has the rounded tomb of Kleovoulos. On another trip I'd like to see this close up, a longish walk, via a ppath from the main beach, but worth it for the views I'd imagine. Again not in the heat of the day!
Lindos Bay, Small Beach

This is the smaller of the two beaches at Lindos. It's a bit more crowded then the bigger beach but is less distance to walk from the town and has maybe more tavernas at the back of it. Both beaches are great for swimming from and have Pedallos for hire.
At the far end of this beach is the jetty where the daytrip boats tie up.
