Travel Tips for Lindos
Swimming
by steventilly
Well, Sue calls this swimming. You or I would call it "sitting in the water". Whatever, it's a great way to cool down, though only a little, the water is nice and warm here too. And just look how crystal clear the water is. The waters all around Rhodes are clean, but Lindos Bay must be the cleanest of all. Just a swimsuit really.
Lindos Acropolis
by sandysmith
The Acropolis is a nearly tringular rock, 166 meters high, wider and shorter in the north section and four levels higher to the south. The walls which dominmate the top of the acropolis were built by the Knights of St John. The area was excavated between 1902 and 1912. The oldest things found were obsidian tools dating from the Neolithic period about 3000 B.C. Its a fascinating outdoor museum so enjoy!
Acropolis IX
by steventilly
Some of the artifacts in the Acropolis are being restored, like this temple. Some of the structures have already been restored by the Italians when they were in occupation. This restoration was rather hurried and haphazard and seemed to pay more attention to aesthetics than accuracy (so our guide told us). Some of the Italian's "restoration" is being undone and re-done properly.
Lindos Bay, Main Beach
by steventilly
This is the larger of the two beaches in Lindos Bay, at the other side of the Acropolis from St. Paul's Bay.
Many people only see these two beaches and never make it to St Paul's (in fact few even know about St Paul's).
The beaches in Lindos bay are bigger, have tavernas & watersports and are better for a day at the beach.
St. Paul's is just really spectacular though, so don't miss it.
LINDOS

"A white washed village"
Lindos is a white washed village, nestling at the foot of the Acropolis, and older than the Acropolis of Athens
Lindos lies on the east coast of the island at a distance of 56 Km away from the capital city of Rhodes
Lindos has historic interests combined with colorful shops.
The visit to the acropolis of Lindos is an unforgettable experience with a view toward the village, the sea, the harbours and the island
