The Acropolis of Lindos
At the top of the hill is located the Acropolis of Lindos. The reason that the Acropolis was built there is that Lindos was one of the richest towns of that period and that many pirates were trying to conquer it.

Has anyone recently stayed at the Efrosini/Anestis studios/appartments? I have booked through Libra Holidays. I have been to Lindos many times but this will be the first trip with my boyfriend (who has never visited Greece before) and also the first time in this accomodation and with this tour operator. Just want to know they are ok and where exactly they are located, got a feeling they might be somewhere near the church......Thanks
hi -i have stayed in lindos alot - i worked out there for a few seasons. the bad news is that all accom anywhere in greece, as you know, is very basic. Unless your in a hotel expect it to be very very basic. But, the good news is, libra are usully the cheapest, and one of the best to book with i think. always book online for a discount! You have defo chosen the best resort undoubtedly. And you can travel the island to see rhodes old town -which is worth a visit but be prepared to be invited into all the restaurants to eat. Just say youve allready eaten, unless you like the look of it and want to eat, then ask if they do a dicount!!!!! i would get a bus there, and a taxi back for the cheap option - or a taxi both ways for comfort (its VERY hot). If your near the church it's good because your unlikely to have been located somewhere up a load of steps which can be a nightmare in the hot weather, so if you book to go again check theirs no stairs directly leading to your accom because some are like that and it's horrible - especially if you have to carry your own suitcase to the bus on your way home. The church is nearer the beach too. go to the s mall beach not the big one - its more sociable. and by the small beach i don't mean saint pauls bay. try saint pauls bay beach if you want. its nice but shingle. DONT BOOK EXCURSIONS THROUGH YOUR REPS - DO IT YOURSELF - MUCH CHEAPER. Ill be out there from saturday for four weeks so if you meet a kerry that'll be me! have a great time x

To enter the church enter the courtyard and cross to the door with the white bell tower over it. Notice the bas-reliefs and bells in the stone work before you enter. This is more typical of the greek style rather than the stone campanile adjacent to it.
The streets are decorated with pretty hanging baskets, and in some cases the shrubs spilling over from the gardens on the other side of the walls. The colours are beautiful against the whitewashed walls and the clear blue sky.
This is outside of the Acropolis and the reason why we walked up via the donkey track. We wanted to get views beyond the Acropolis towards St. Paul's Bay. It was nice up here, though exposed, and we found that you get even better views of St. Paul's Bay from inside the Acropolis.
The view up to the Acropolis from down on the beach is stupendous. As is the climb from the beach to the top of the Acropolis, and best not attempted in the blaze of the afternoon sun. Remember, Lindos is the hottest place on Rhodes!
