Great Holiday

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Sky Hotel during our holiday Sept 2010, we were on a package holiday with Thomsons. Our room was on the first floor and had a sea view as booked. The room was a good size with comfortable beds , air con, a room safe which you paid for 30 euros(i think) , tv and dvd player which we didn't use, there is a mini bar which states that you cant keep your own things in but tour rep told us that we could use fridge for our own things which we did with no problem. The view from the balcony was stunning and I fell in love with the Aegean Sea and the stunning sunsets that we viewed from the balcony. The only downside to the room was the size of the shower I am 5ft10 and husband is 6ft and had to keep screen door open to be able to shower properly. We were bed and breakfast and there was a good selection if you got down early enough , although it would have been nice if fruit on offer was fresh and not tinned still it went well with the lovely yoghurt, didn't really cater for British taste but that didn't bother us at all. The dining room staff were friendly enough but we did have to clear table a few times and not cause they were busy. Reception, bar staff and cleaning staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel states that it is a few minutes from Old Town but its quite a walk depending on the way you go which is either to follow coast line or the street that runs up the side of hotel which is very uneven and areas where there is no pavement so you need to keep an eye out for cars and mopeds but it is a quicker route to The Old Town. The hotel has a small pool which is heated by the sun , there are a few sunbeds but beach is just across the road so we didn't use it. There is also a gift shop which sells clothes, toiletries , cold drinks , snacks and souveniers Overall we had a nice stay. We are going to Rhodes this year again but trying a different hotel one a bit nearer the Old Town.

Unique Quality: The view we had was stunning but you had to pay extra for sea view.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Reception area was modern and very clean

"My holiday in Rhodes"

We arrived at The Blue Sky Hotel Rhodes Town, it was dark and couldn't see much. In the morning i opened the curtains and was blown away by the gorgeous view of the Aegean Sea and the huge liners making there way into the port. We got dressed and headed down for a quick breakfast and then headed out for a walk. It was very warm but there was quite a strong wind blowing. We walked into Rhodes town about a 30min walk if you take the coast route.

"Meet and Greet"

We walked back to hotel for the tour reps(Thomsons) meet and greet and he gave us loads of tips on what to be careful off. These were the African Ladies who want to shake our hand and then they don't let go till you buy a bracelet from them, the reps from another hotel who give you a scratch card and if you win they take you to hotel to pick up prize, you always win and if you go with them you are subjected to a time share talk. The other thing is when ordering a beer always ask for a small beer if you ask for a beer you will get a huge glass shaped like a boot which cost a fortune. We booked some excursions via the rep more expensive I know, but it meant getting picked up and dropped off at hotel in an air conditioned bus which was lovely after a busy day sightseeing.

"I loved Rhodes"

We had a great holiday so much so that we are going again this year but will be staying at another hotel that is nearer to the town and once again we booked with Thomsons this time we booked extra leg room on the flight the legroom is terrible especially when you are 5ft10 like me and 6ft like my husband. Cheers
