Charm and Proximity
Although I expected the hotel to been in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Rhodes Town, this location slightly away from the crowds proved a quiet benefit. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and neat. We had two adults and two children in a family room equiped with two twin beds and a double bed located in a charming loft area. If you are looking for luxury, don't stay here. But if you are looking for somewhere that gives you adequate, clean accommodation with a bit of charm and history, then this is the place. We enjoyed our breakfast in the hotel patio area, and enjoyed playing cards in the evening on our patio located in the centre of the building.
Unique Quality: The hotel is built into the wall of the old town of Rhodes and is very convenient to the shopping areas of the town and their many restaurants. A bit of a walk to the main beach area, but not too much of a struggle if you are even remotely used to doing a bit of waling. The key reason to stay here is the uniqueness of the location in the old town, and the rustic flavour of the rooms.
Bait and Switch
The main building for this hotel was built centuries ago and housed a Jewish family. A website had pictures of a hotel with tons of character and charm, and that's why I chose to stay there. Unfortunately, I never did. I booked three rooms here for myself, brother, and mother. A few weeks before we left for Rhodes, I received an email from the owner saying that she forgot about our reservation and asked if we wanted rooms in a smaller hotel that they own around the corner. With the town booked, we had no choice but to take her up on the offer.
What happened was she had a tour group come in that she didn't want to split up and kicked us out to make room for the group.
Even though the smaller hotel was ok, I felt a little bit cheated out of staying at the place I booked.
Unique Quality: Good breakfast. They claim it's the only hotel in the Old Town that is accessible by taxi.
