Going to the bathroom/john/loo/wc/toilet.
by Englischer
Any of the above that involve sitting down and doing your business may cause you to wonder what the bin nearby is for? Answer to place your used toilet paper in! Greek plumbing uses much smaller bore pipes than most of the western world, so if you flush your paper and block the works up you will not be popular. I find this practice unpleasant but this is the way so please comply- but do not forget to wash those hands afterwards!!!! Having a lazy 2 hour lunch at Mama Sofia's was my most enjoyable experience, but what I miss the most is the dusty air (thank heavens).
The beach
by Christianne
The beach of the city of Rodos is quite good but windy in some parts.
The best beach which is not windy is the part in front of the Mediterranean hotel in which we stayed during our last visit to the island.
Entering a Greek Church or Monastery
by Balam
If you want to see a Greek church or monastery inside, you must be properly dressed. It's considered rude to enter a church if your shoulders and knees aren't covered. This rule goes for both men and women. So if you as a tourist wants to be polite against the country you're visiting, have this in mind.
Shopping in Turkey
by beccyandjohn
If you like shopping then make sure you go to Turkey you can get just about anything and its cheap but make sure you barter with them.
I got all sorts of designer fakes, not that anyone would know, you could get all the Chav stuff if thats what your into. But they also had some realy nice designer stuff like Miss Sixty, Diesel, D&G etc. and there are some amazing bags i treated myself to a nice D&G bag, a few pairs of jeans a skirt some new shoes and a watch and of course theres plenty for the lads.
At the end of our shopping we all met up in a carpet shop, and before heading back where shown lots of rugs and stuff and recieved a cold drink.
