The building of the Hydrobiological Station of Rhodos was built during the period 1934-36. In 1937, under the Italian rule, used to be operated as the Reale Istituto di Ricerce Biologiche di Rodi tilll 1945, when it was renamed "Hellenic Hydrobiological Institute" following to the union of the Dodecanese with Greece.Nowadays, the Institut operates as an Aquarium, a Museum as well as a Research Centre.
