Rhodes Island
"The Island Itself"
The island of Rhodes is full of history, great if you love travelling for that reason. If you get out of the main town of rhodes the scenery is beautiful and there are quite a few lovely hotels as well. With easily accessable taxi's, it's easy to get around. (busses are not that reliable i'm affraid).
The main resorts of Rhodes, Falaraki, Lindos, Lardos, Pefkos etc are really nice to visit, you can go on donkey rides up montains, visit water springs, get lost in tunnels... great fun. lol Falaraki has a really big water park that's great fun for all the family, but be warned, there are some pretty high slides there!!
"Shopping"
Shopping on the island can be one of the other... plentiful if you are by the main towns, or if like me you're a little more remote, like in Kiotari then it's a lot harder to find shops... Be sure to visit the old town... it's very quaint there, and the buildings are history in itself and plenty of bargains can be had here.
If you prefer the more "normal" type of shopping, then new rhodes town is best, but it's right outside old rhodes town, if you have time, visit them both!
"Where I stayed"
I Stayed at the kiotari bay hotel miraluna for a week... the area was very, very remote, but lovely scenery. The hotel itself was all inclusive, which was a good job really, nearest shops for anything was a good 30-40min walk.
The hotel had about 7-8 pools, and a heated indoor pool, complex was very clean and we never had a problem with the food, it was always hot and they kept it on rotation and kept temp checks.
Mainly cater for the english, italians and Germans, but each had kids clubs and eve entertainment, brits at ampi theatre, Italians on roof bar and german were by the pool (i think)
Only one pay bar, and that was open from 6pm - 2am and avarage price for drinks.
The staff were all very friendly, polite and always had a smile.
The complex is really big and they're still building, but you don't hear much of the noise, and it's not around the main complex.
If you want to hire a car, do it from the german lady at the hotel.... She charges around 60 euros for 3 days and they're good cars as well, you will get hit up in the air if you do it from home... Like i did!
The entertainment is fantastic by the way... (forgot to mention. lol) The animation team put on some really good and funny shows and if you go here, please please see the ladies night show, you will be in stitches! it's very funny.
If you're after more nightlife then visit falaraki or rhodes town, they're the 2 best places.
If you would like any more info, please feel free to ask.
