More about Louis Colossos Beach

loved the hotel and will go back next year

by TripAdvisor Member tycanol

We stayed at the Colossos beach for two weeks at the end of August we had a wonderful time,o.k the bedrooms are a bit small but we only used them to sleep and shower. The hotel is very clean with an army of cleaners ,The food is great my husband and I both put on ten pounds. The bar staff couldn't do enough for us and had too put up with some very rude people demanding drinks not Brits I may add!!and as for the animation team they made the childrens holiday they worked so hard and we enjoyed the shows they where very talented dancers. They always remembered all of our names even though the hotel was full.So please don't read the bad reviews as you will have a fab holiday here ,give our love to Pascal and Daniella as the kids miss them

Fabulous time!!!

by TripAdvisor Member 3832JEN

Well, what can i say?! We spent a week at the Louis Colossus in the first week of September and had an amazing time! As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were very impressed with the grand scale of the place and how fabuolus the outdoor areas looked (bare in mind it was 3am!). We were attended to very quickly by the reception staff who were lovely, again considering the time. We were checked in quickly and shown the direction to our rooms. I do agree with a couple of the other reviews that the lifts out of sight weren't quite as attractive as others but always worked and the corridors along to the rooms were spotless. The only negative I would say about the place is that if you have paid for a "side-sea view", don't expect to see much of the sea. It was more the side of the hotel you could see. But it didn't bother me or my partner as we only spent time in our room when sleeping or getting ready to go back out. The room itself was pretty basic but nice and clean, hairdryer, sky tv and was cleaned thouroughly every day! The facilities at the hotel were incredible. The pool areas were always spotless and gardens around were brilliant. One pool was used more as an activities pool that the animation staff would do aqua aerobics in and play water polo for a couple of hrs everyday. Quite entertaining to watch really, you couldnt help but tap along to the music! Beach was lovely, yes u had to pay for sunbeds but what is 2euros each when you've got everything else included??!! Which leads me ont the food. The food at this hotel was fantastic! Every meal was lovely. Brekkie was obviously similar every day but there was a HUGE range of everything so could have somehting different every day. The dinner was also nice, different meals every evening, ranging from moussaka to mussels and always lots of salads and carverys. Really fresh traditional greek food. But the lunch was by far the best. A chinese buffet aswell as the indoor resaturant which served lots of varieties of fresh pizza and different mains every day. Also, 3 times per week, they have a beach bbq which is served at the beach bar. lots of spit-roasted meats and fresh salad, heaven! Also, if u fancy doing something different, try the watersports centre. Its on the beach front. The pedalo's are free if your all inclusive but also do paragliding etc. Staff are all lovely and very friendly. Out of all the staff i have to say the animation staff made the holiday more enjoyable. They worked for 8am-11pm almost everyday and managed to stay happy and full of life, remembering your face and saying hi everytime they saw you!
Think thats about it really. Might sound a bit OTT but that obviously means we had a fantastic holiday and plan to return next year. I would definatley recommend this hotel to anyone. We are a young couple who were looking for a relaxing week away and definately got it - without the place being too sleepy! (faliraki is just round the corner!) Get yourself there, you'll have a great time!
p.s. watch out for the sunbed snatchers, up pretty early to steal them all!

A big disappointment

by TripAdvisor Member HillaryFamily

The hotel is such a big let down and is misrepresented. It says 'modern' in its advert. This place is everything but modern. The bedrooms shown in the hotel website are not the bedrooms most of guests would get - I suspect they probably have a few that resemble in the photos and given to people who pay over the odds for their stay. Many guests complained about their rooms included us ( 10 or us) who were given very basic and budget-type of bed rooms with small and dim and dirty-looking bathrooms. We ordered twin-rooms but none of us got any. My teenage son and his two friends were given a small divan bed which broke as soon as you sit on it because it is simply too flimsy - as they are really meant to be for todlers but they advertise that three adults can share a room!
The lifts are slow, small and look unclean and in a state of disrepair and often break-down. The public toilets are always dirty, airless and smelly. The food is horrendous and post-war quality ! Jelly in tin-fruits and tin peas and carrots and artificial cream and fruits ( 4 types only) that look as if they come from someone's backgarden!
The only positive thing is the entertainment staff who try their hardest to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.

We stopped at the colosus in Sept this year and had an excellent time. the food was fantastic and the rooms and pool area were very clean. the staff are very friendly and the service is first class. the entertainment is exactly the same as in all the other all-inclusive hotels, repetative and aimed at a broad audience. the disco was great good variety of music and a good laugh, you have to pay for drinks after 12 but so what you are on holiday. Faliraki is 25 minutes walk and not as wild as everyone makes out, unfortunately. Just try it you may like it we did.

wicked wanna go back dudes from Coventry

by TripAdvisor Member sue194

well wot can i say? truelly trulley wonderful. Food amazing, room good, staff excellent, service out of this world. Just got back a couple of hours ago and I am so browned off that I want to go back now. The animation team are brilliant, very tallanted they would do very well over here. If you go try the trip Nickos Of The Jungle wot a laff the bloke that does it is a total nutter and he had us doing allsorts rock climbing wading through streams allsorts well worth the money. Well gotta go back to work to pay for next year.

Time for refurbishment!

by TripAdvisor Member anotheradvisor

My husband and I have just returned from a stay at this hotel. Compared to many other 4* hotels we have stayed in, this one lacks quality. The rooms were not like the picture shown on the travel agent website, so we had a bit of a shock when we arrived. One of the bed legs were broken and so the bed collapsed during the night, the other bed had a matress that was useless as you could feel the base of the bed. The cupboard door in front of the fridge was hanging off and the hairdryer was broken. Needless to say we complained and were given another room which was exactly the same but without the broken bits! However the shower didn't work properly so we had to have that fixed the next day.

The area's on display i.e. the reception, the poolside etc. are all very clean and look well decorated. Other area's like the coridoors to get to the rooms and the lifts that are not on display in the reception area are very shabby, the carpets & walls are really grubby and this doesn't give a very good impression, it could all do with refurbishing and they could definitely do with replacing the sunbeds as a lot were ripped and broken.

I think the hotel gets its 4* because of the facilities on offer at the hotel, you couldn't really ask for more and the setting of the hotel is lovely. The animation team work very hard during the day and night to provide entertainment and they try to make it suitable for everyone which can't be an easy task.

The breakfasts were good with lots of variety, lunch was good too with a choice of chinese food most days. The food on an evening was ok but we stayed for 1 week and were a bit bored of the same kind of things by the end of the week. There was plenty to eat but to us it lacked quality compared to other places we have stayed.

The location of the hotel is good as you can walk to Falaraki if you want and the taxi's are reasonably priced if you want to go further a field. Overall, we did enjoy our holiday as on the whole the hotel is ok but just lacks general quality.

If you expect a four star hotel with four star standards you will be disappointed. This hotel although having many facilities is definitely a 3 star. If you have booked a side sea view room I would say change it before you go because these are absolutely awful - travel companies and Louis Hotels should be ashamed to describe these as four star they are dingy, small and unpleasant. We were moved after speaking to the manager who was helpful in this regard, our new room was airy and clean but I would again only say 3 star standard. Although some areas of the hotel are quite nice, ie the bar area, coffee lounge and food area which was actually quite pleasant, the coridoors are dirty, dark and shabby and your great expectations on arrival soon disappear on the walk to your room (lugging your own case behind you I might add, there being no porter service). Pool was okay but a bit cramped, - there is no towel facility here. The beach area was shabby, unkempt and sunbeds tatty, rusty in places, oh and a childrens play area bang in the middle of the beach spoiling any views. The service is practically non-existent in this hotel, mostly being help yourself with no shortage of plastic cups - even for tea in the morning at breakfast when the china runs out - very tasteful!! The food was okay being fresh and replenished quickly when anything ran out so this made the hotel okay (for a week). Hotel generally is noisy, very busy and bustling with lots of families and children but the Faliraki element still shines through with occasional night disturbance. Staff not welcoming, a general couldn't care less approach with no enthusiasm. Generally this hotel has no Class and is not very comfortable or relaxing but if you want a budget breakaway with the pizza brigade then fine....

decent value for money

Myself and girlfriend got a late deal for this all inclusive resort situated between Rhodes town and Faliraki.
The rooms, as some people have said, aren't luxurious - but at the end of the day they are only really used for sleeping and showering in. The beds were comfy enough and the air con ensured a good nights sleep (aided by the endless supply of alchohol).
The food is of a good standard and during our weeks stay was quite varied. The chinese snack hut is a must for oriental food lovers.
The entertainment provided in the evenings was of varying standards but they can't be faulted for effort.
The bar staff were friendly - even though there were a lot of very rude people who couldn't be bothered to wait their turn and say please and thank you. If you show the bar staff good manners then they'll look after you.
My only small complaint about the hotel are the extra costs - 18Euro for the room safe, we had a late transfer so we had to pay 50Euro to keep our room on. The sunloungers on the beach also cost 3Euro each but due to most of the beds being 'pre-booked' by peoples towels you don't have much choice.
We hired a car for a couple of days - and I would recommend this. You can also walk into Faliraki in about 35 minutes - it's certainly calmed down in the past few years!!

All in all I would certainly recommend this resort if your after a hassle free all inclusive break

disappointed, scotland

Hi just returned from this hotel not what we expected. When we arrived at 2.10am we were given our key and room number and no help with the cases just had to manage on your own. Room was not bad but needed to be upgraded, paint work and bathroom was in need of some repair, no plug for bath so I had to use extra face flannel to stop the water from running away. I need a bath as I suffer from leg pain. Lift never had been cleaned all the time we stayed which was 2 wks, no hoovering was ever done the corridors were a disgrace very dark and shabby. The food was pretty good but always the same and sweets were very boring. Never stayed in an hotel that you have to set your own table and clear away your own dishes. Staff were overall friendly some a wee bit of hand. Had to be up early to get your sunbed as alot of people just did not pay any attention to the notice that the hotel put up about the removal of the towels. The entertainment team made the holiday for the people who like that kind of thing. We just enjoyed spectating. Our weather was great thank goodness our we would have been very bored. The Thomson Rep was a disgrace. Liked the island and enjoyed lindos really enjoyed our trip around the island from the north to the south and back up to the hotel. would not recommend this hotel to anybody was wishes a quiet time. glad to be home.

by cath&tony

We are going to louis colossos beach hotel in mid september, has any one stayed there ? Also I am always bothered by mosquito bites, is there a problem with mosquito's here and if so can anyone give me any advice on how to avoid being bitten. I nearly always end up having to go to the doctors because the bites end up really bad.

Appreciate your help on this

I have not been to the hotel mentioned, but can give some advice about musquitos. In every Greek super( or mini-)market they sell musquito killers. Mostly they work with tablets and heating ( electric). It doesn't cost much and helps (and stinks till you get used to it) very good. I always plug in 1 tablet when i leave the room to go for dinner, and when i come back some hours later, the smell has faded and there are NO MOSQUITOS !!!!!!!!! Lots of fun !! maria
