Friendly management
Now, I know that the Lydia's been refurbished - so I won't comment on its decor or facilities....but, I will comment on its friendliness.
I stayed here on numerous "one nighters" between 1993 and 1999 and both day staff and night staff were very helpful.
Prices were cheap for the new town and the front balconies were great for people watching at the end of the siesta!

Accommodation in Rhodes - Advice Requested
Will be in Rhodes for 3 nights first few days of October, looking for good 3 star accommodation, in old town or walking distance, no preference as to large or small hotel, B&B, but must be clean, nice bathroom and quiet after 10pm. Local character would be a bonus and view, does not have to be sea view, could be old city etc.
Air conditioning might be essential at that time of year?
Have seen a few reviews & recommendations on the following:

We stayed in Nikis pension in the Old Town at exactly this time a few years ago - thoroughly enjoyed it, but you need one of the balcony rooms for your view of the Old Town. See my tip here http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/7445b/68802/3/ for details

Oh - unless you're very sensitive to heat, you shouldn't need aircon in October. Late June through to August perhaps!

Hi Helen, Thanks for your reply. I note your tip on the Lydia Hotel and its web page looks very good, have emailed for prices. Any further info or thoughts on this hotel as we will be there for 3 nights?

Hi Mike - I haven't stayed at the Lydia for about 8 years now (certainly not since it's been refurbished) - it's not too far (10 minutes or so) from the Old Town and Mandraki harbour and the breakfast terrace at the back is relatively quiet for Rhodes New Town. You'll have fun exploring! Helen
