1 night in Rhodestown, a good budget option ?

by mariakaptein

In sept. I arrive by plane on Rhodes, to leave next morning by ferry to Nissyros. Does anyone here know a small hotel or domatia for 1 person ?
I want to visit Nissyros and Tilos, for walking.
4 or 5 days before my departure I will return to Rhodes.
Is it worth to visit Chalki or stay at the westcoast of Rhodes for walking ?
Thanx !!

Rhodes (Island) Tip

The village feast!! Being the only child in our party, it was be great to be allowed to take part in the fun and dance and the wonderful music. I remember an old greek dancing with me, and I felt so great and very grown-up!The lamb casserole served in a clay pot was worth remembering too!

Snorkeling

by himalia11

If you want to snorkel, the area around the Kalithea spa is perfect for you! At the spa itself, there is a rocky beach with few sand, and you even can borrow snorkel. Close to it, there are some more rocky beaches. From the parking, you already see one, and the one of the photo is found a bit more south, behind a pine forest.

The water is absolutely clear, the rocks in the water are very interesting and there are several fishes, of course. Most mussels we saw were "inhabited" by kind of crabs - looks very funny when suddenly some legs come out of mussel and it is walking away!

Siana

by sandysmith

Not far from Monolithos is Siana - a small albeit touristic town whose claim to fame is its local grape fire water produce - Sourna, production of which is prohibited in Greece except for Siana due to an italian-era licence. Other local produce is its honey, distinctively flavoured with herbs and mountain flowers which the bees feed on. Also of note in this village is the impressive single-aisled church of Agos Pandelemon, just below the main road, with beautiful frescoes inside.

Ferry between Rhodes & Marmaris(Turkey)

by Arkeolog

Also you can go to Marmaris(Turkey) from Rhodes by ferry or hydrofoil. It takes aprox. 1,5 hours.

More about Marmaris:Once a little fishing port, Marmaris has developed into one of Turkey’s busiest and most Anglicized resorts. Its port welcomes luxury cruise liners, which disgorge passengers keen to sample the town’s extensive facilities and visit the ancient sites nearby - the biblical city of Efes where the stories in the Bible come alive, (the second biggest city of Roman Empire, after Rome); another sightseeing place not to be missed is Pamukkale&Hierapolis, that is considered to be the 8th world wonder (And added into UNESCO's World Heritage List).
