Loved Oceanis hotel

by TripAdvisor Member radak

We stayed at Oceanis hotel from 15 September-29th all inclusive.
The hotel itself was a pleasant suprice. We had a wonderful time, great facilities, great staff especiall Spyros the head waiter in the restaurant always welcome you with a smile. The maids cleaned the room everyday all the staff were very efficient and helpful. The pool was very large and fantastic, food was very good every Sunday is a greek night in the Restaurant with greek gyros and all the traditional food. The excellent animation worked very hard to entertain people. The Bar is serving alcohol drinks until midnight and the nice Barman always remember what you had order before.
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Rhodes at Oceanis hotel and are planning to return next August as it was superb!!.
We definitely recommend this hotel to anybody of all ages as it was brilliant.Dont know why negative reports of this hotel, spoken with the staff told as that the overbooking was from the agencies and not from the hotel.I believe that!Agencies only want to earn money.Spyros,Katrina,Maria see you all next year.

Oceanis Ixia

We have just returned from the Oceanis in Ixia August 2006,We were All Inclusive the hotel itself was very nice most staff were very friendly with the exception of the snack bar during the day he thought that he was giving you drinks out of his own pocket.

I have been to a few All inclusives and this has got to be the worst for selection Vodka, Bacardi, Whiskey Ouzo Campari all of which tasted of pernod.

Food was very good with a good selection - restaurant staff were excellent.

Be prepared to pay for sun beds 3.5 euro per day per bed on the beach unless you want to get up at the crack of dawn to get ready to put your towels down.Even if you are lucky you will be packed in like sardines. We elected the beach every day

The resort is very quiet only a small amount of bars outside the hotel.I would go back to Rhodes but I would stay on the outskirts of Rhodes Town itself

We have just enjoyed two weeks in Ixia, Nr. Rhodes, Greece. We stayed at the Oceanis Hotel, Ixia, which we could not fault in any way. We were all inclusive, the food was good, with plenty of choice, the accomodation was excellent, cleaniness was first class.
We did not have any children with us, but do not really think it would be catered for children regarding snacks. There was no burgers, chips etc at lunch time under the all inclusive unless you paid for them them.
Entertainment was average, although the members of the animation team was very friendly and did their best to entertain.
Our only disappointment was that we had to check out at lunch time on the Saturday and did not get picked until 4.10am Sunday morning. We tried to keep on our room or get another one which we would have to pay 45 euros. Unfortunately their was no rooms available, but the receptionist managed to get us an apartment just up the road for 40 euros for a 2 room apartment which was great. We got to keep our cases in the hotel and we still got all our food and drinks until we left Sunday morning.
This is a hotel which I would recommend to anyone going to Greece.

Excellent Hotel

We stayed at the Oceanis hotel from 22/04/07 to 25/04/07. We were suppose to spend a full week here but the hotel didn't open until 22/04/07 so we spent 4 nights previous at the Avra Beach hotel (which again was a very nice hotel)

The Oceanis is a very nice quality hotel, we were lucky and had a room on the 5th floor which was very nicely furnished and with a spectacular view, the other floors are yet to be upgraded so from what I saw, these just looked like your typical med standard hotel room.

As we went to the hotel so early in the season there was no entertainment, thankfully we had made friends witha group of 10 or I do think we might have gone mad as the hotel was so quiet but despite this, we still had a brilliant time there but i would say if I was to book again, I would make it a week or 2 later as the season doesn't really begin until May and I think you can guarantee the weather then too as our first couple of days weren't too hot but by the last few days, temperatures were in the mid twenties.

The staff at the hotel were very attentive and helpful, the quality of the food could not be faulted at all, there was always many dishes that I liked the look of and the meals that I had were delicious.

I would recommend this hotel to anybody, me and my partner are 26 & 30 and throughly enjoyed ourselves and Rhodes town itself is magnificant. Wonderful place, you will not be disappointed if you have booked.

Wonderful hotel

Dear,
Here follows my point of view:
The employed person are very kind and they help you finding solution to your problem.
The breakfast, lunch and dinner was very good and there were a lot of different things to eat as greek plate or ohters.
The pool was well cleaned every day and you can swim easily in comparison with other hotels where the pool was full due to the number of tourist in the hotel. Here the average between the size of the pool and the number of tourist is very good.
Moreover you cannot put your towel around the pool before 8 o'clock, and this is respected.
There were every day animations like Karaoke, dance competition, Greek dance and also dance for the kids.
The 2 animators (Marta and Ilias) were very enthousiastic.
I would like to give them my congratulations for their excellent work and a special thanks to Spiros who dispathes the people in the dinner room.
The tennis court was free and very accessible and good enough to play for the holidays.

Horrible!!!!

by TripAdvisor Member SOW1

This is definatly not a four star hotel. The airconditioning in the public areas is never turned on, we were there during the World Cup and it was extremely uncomfortable rying to watch it in the hotel,Even when we asked for the air con to be turned on they only did it very low and then insisted on shutting all the doors so it made it even worse.
The rooms desperatly need upgrading, Ok they've done the 5th floor but thats all, The carpets were nearly threadbare, The bathrooms were mouldy and the beds had definatly seen better days. The animation team consisted of a man and a woman, The woman was quite good but the man had a whistle constantly attached to his mouth and shouted all the time. The rooms at the back of the hotel over look the small pool and play area, Unfortunatly thats where they play water polo and all the other sporting activities, So forget a quiet drink on your balcony before dinner the noise was horrendous, I complained halfway through the holiday and we were moved to the front which was much better. Everyone we talked to was complaining about the noise. The Drinks are rubbish there is definately no alchohol in them, The food is not bad but not brilliant either, The choice of deserts was very poor. We definatly won't be returning to this hotel it is one of the worst we have stayed in.

a good time had by all

by TripAdvisor Member lynnexk8

the rooms are clean and spacious for three people, the top floor has been refurbished but the other floors are only a little tired, i don't think you could complain, they only need a lick of paint really. the food was lovley, seeing a chef a few times a week carving joints. the head waiter is more than helpful and will always make sure you needs are catered for. i can't comment on breakfast as we never made it in the two weeks we were there. the snack bar dosn't do chips but does do cold snacks and hot snacks such as pasta, burgers and mash potatoe. the man that works the snack bar isn't miserable, he works long hours in heat and patience at times is all that is needed because sometimes he has three people shouting at him for three different things. the man behind the evening bar is lovley and always remembered who drank what even though there were ten in our party. the reception are always helpful, infact i can honestly say that all the staff we had dealings with were always very helpful and polite.
the animation team illias and marta were great, they work very hard and take time out to make sure guests are happy. (illias always said if you have a complaint, don't come to me, complain on the internet, i can honestly say brilliant, with what they have to work with they do a very good job). the pool is great clean and refreshing on the hot sunny days. if i had one complaint it would be the sunbed situation, some people were having 2 sunbeds to 1 person (1 in the sun and 1 in the shade) most of these were just covered in towels and not used all day. something should be done about this by the management. such as beds left for two hours without use the towels should be removed.
i would recommend this hotel without hesitation for an enjoyable and relaxing time

REAL MESS ABOUT

by TripAdvisor Member trebor21

I booked this hotel with hellenic voyages, Was told 3 days before my holiday that the hotel had overbooked and they were moving us to a different hotel. Even worse they used the bombings in turkey as the excuse! However my holiday was booked long before this and this is not just an isolated incident. Relatives of mine went at start of summer and spoke to people who had the same thing happen to them.

A further search on the internet revelaed other people who had the same problem!

Not a reliable hotel to book, seems they overbook this well known hotel inorder to shift people to there leser known sister hotel!

Even better was Hellenic voyages couldnt tell me anything about the hotel they were moving to! Didnt know what time meals were at if the rooms had air conditioning, if the hotel was prone to aircraft noise! Basic questions an absolute farce!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Hotel good as long as there is a room for you

by TripAdvisor Member daveyboy922

we arrived after treveling all day at 8pm and were told that there was not any room for us and we would have to go to another Hotel untill 11am next day and by then there may be some rooms.
we were then taken in the porters car to another Hotel that was not all inclusive and told we would have to buy our drinks or get a taxi back to yhe Oceanis if we wanted free drinks. Also when we got to the other hotel and checked in there was no food left, so I had to buy meals and drinks for the 3 of us costing me 40 euros, not what you would expect on an all inclusive holiday.
Next day we had to get a Taxi back to the Oceanis and managed to get rooms at 11.30, so by the time we had unpacked etc we had lost most of the 2nd day aswell.
The Hotel reception manager seemed very unconcerned about what had happened and we found out later in the week that it happens alot, 2 other couples had the same happen to them too.
The Head Barman who was fantastic told us the hotel does this all the time to make sure they keep all rooms fully booked.
Anyway apart from all the above the rest of the Holiday was fantastic.

Could've been better

by TripAdvisor Member Laroc

Just returned from a 2 week stay on Half Board basis at the Oceanis.

On arriving in the early hours of the morning was impressed by the reception area.
Our room on the third floor had a mountain view, we weren't too bothered as we don't tend to spend much time in our room when on holiday. The room was clean but was not 4* standard in our opinion. The electrics were a bit temperomental e.g certain sockets and lights didn't work all the time. The air con was not the best and it took us a few days to work out how to get it turned up. The maids were very good, clean towels every day too.
A little tip, unscrew the magnet off of the key fob and leave in the socket (but only after the maids have been) coming back into a cool room after a day in the sun is great.

We never made it to breakfast for the whole two weeks, and we never bothered with the free buffet lunch that HB guests were entitled to so cannot comment on either. However we did have dinner at the Hotel. The soup was always lovely, there was a good choice of salads, but the hot buffet was below standard. The quality of the meat was very poor, also the potatoes always seemed to be a tad on the greasy side. We're not really into our desserts so can't really say much about that. The restaruant manager only spoke to us on one occasion so can't really say anything about him either. On our first night we enjoyed free wine, we sat at a table and asked a young waiter for a bottle of wine, he looked at us as though we were mad and told us that we had to go up and help ourselves, so we did, to a couple of carafes, Yamas! We never saw that waiter again.......
We didn't eat at the hotel every night as we didn't pay a lot for our holiday and we like eating out when away but if we had been on a budget or AI we might have been a bit miffed at the quality of food on offer.

The Pool and Pool area was lovely.

If you don't like aqua aerobics, darts, table tennis, bingo or karaoke you might find the entertainment here a bit limited.
Yannis in the main bar is a real gem, always smiling remembers your names and what you drink. Also George who collects the glasses is a nice friendly guy.
Any dealings we had with reception were fine, they were friendly enough. We were able to keep our room on, which was great as we had a 2am pick up.

We spoke to quite a few people who had visited this hotel many times and they were mostly all of the opinion that the Hotel had gone a bit downhill and AI is maybe the reason for this?

Apparently this Hotel is not now independantly owned, it is now a member of a French chain of Hotels, this would maybe explain why 80% of guests when we were there were French.

Overall we have been to better 4* Hotels, and I don't think the Oceanis would ever make a 5* but we did enjoy our stay and would maybe venture back there sometime but not whilst it's an AI Hotel.

Would definately return to Ixia, maybe the Rodian Amathus or the Olympic Lagoon next time.

Oceanis Hotel - Ixia

by alya75

I will be there by the end of august. I read a lot about the hotel and it seems to be ok, but I am worried about the beach and the wind that blows in the area. Please help me with more informations and maybe some pictures. Thanks in advance.

It isn't possible to post pictures here, you'll have to look on travel guide pages for that. I gather that you will be glad of the wind given the heat in August, but that there is some danger of getting sand-blasted - it IS a windsurfing venue, after all, see http://www.iwindsurf.co.uk/content/view/5976/147/

We visited Ixia back in October and it is a more windy then other parts of Rhodes as it is renowned for its windsurfing, but did not find it to be overly windy. The beach is pebbly and it is a very commercial area. i would recommend you visit Lindos as it is very beautiful and lovely beaches

Hello again, It should be pretty easy to find a roon in samothraki, just ask when u get off the boat. For Kavala, Hotel Oceanis is middlerange, just next to the centre and the ferry dock, about 40 euros a night, no breakfast.
