Heaven on Earth for a Honeymoon
by doodybee
we go to rhodes in october ( right up to nearly the end last year)
we find the weather more pleasant to be able to sight-see in but we do often get to sunbathe around the pool also ( this may depend on what type of weather conditions you have at home as our greek friends say its cold for them --well it will be if they are used to 45degs+ during the summer as the temps are usually around the mid 20s) it can also be rainy at this time of year although out of our last three trips we have had just one lot of rain and the bulk of that was overnight anyway.
We love Rhodes Town ( we still haven't seen all there is to see in the Old Town), and if like us you won't be driving you can access most of the islands visitor attractions from Rhodes via the buses)
We also have yet to visit Lindos bur most people say it is a must
We liked the Ancient Ruins at Kamiros ( thats our type of thing )
We also have stayed in Kolymbia which is a small town near Afandou - there is a large Thomson hotel their which looks very luxurious but we tend to use the Mitsis Chain when we can -- that is Greek owned and there are 3 in rhodes town ( all very nice) and a couple more around rhodes and on various other islands around greece
Hope i haven't gone on too long - thee is much more i can say about rhodes
Check out the rhodes Pages and make your own mind up
My guess is you and your new wife will love it there
and Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding also
Julie Rhodes Island is the best Holiday destination i have come across so far
Seven Springs (Epta Piges)
by Christianne
The Seven Springs are located 30km from the town of Rodos. Waters come out of the springs ending up in one small lake.
You may have your lunch or have a coffee here enjoying the scent of pine trees.
The Kiss Fountain in centre of Faliraki
by Fam.Rauca
The Kiss is a beautiful statue placed in the Central Square in Faliraki.
The statue makes part from a wonderful fountain, situated in front of the hotel Blue Waves, and not far from the beach of the station.
This is an important point in the station, a meet point for many young people.
This is a wonderful art creation in the village.
Symi
by steventilly
Symi is a beautiful island about 1 hour from Rhodes by fast hydrofoil or catermeran. You can go for a daytrip - this will usually call at the monestary of Panormitis at the other end of Symi Island before continuing up to the main town of Symi - Symi Town!
The boats leave from Mandraki Harbour at about 9:30 each day and return at about 3:30 (all times approximate and seasonal, and an occasional boat leaves from Kolonna rather than Mandraki, so check).
You don't have to do the daytrip though - you can stay over on Symi. Hoteliers and the like wait for the daytrip boats and hold placards saying "rooms to rent". We stayed for 4 nights on Symi at the Hotel Opera House. It was a wonderful place - if you do decide to stay on Symi stay there. I doubt you'd be disappointed.
There's enough to see and do on Symi to last you a few days, in fact we'd like to have stayed longer. It's a different pace of life to Rhodes, and so very relaxing.
Donkey
by Maggies
In cities like Lindos you can either walk or take a donkey. The steets are so narrow that it's impossible to drive inside it. There is a big coach and car park outside the city and a donkey station at the entrance to the old town. The donkeys are also waiting for tourists in Lindos Bay and at the entrance to the Acropolis.
