Welcome to the new Marie Celeste

The Capsis is a massive "luxury class" hotel and conference complex situated on the edge of Ixia, about 4km away from Rhodes New and Old towns, We were staying in the timeshare apartment block to the rear of the hotel which is definitely not "luxury", more three star and showing its age. As we were almost the only people there, the hotel and reception staff could not have been more helpful, but most of the facilities were closed. Location is convenient for the bus to both airport and rhodes town, beach is nearby but is shingle and not noticably cleaned, although we were out of season. As you would expect anything is possible, but at a price - 6 euros for 30 minutes internet access or 19 euros for breakfast as examples. Needless to say we used the small supermarket at the hotel across the road which opens 7am-11pm all year for basic supplies and eat out otherwise. I would recommend the apartments for a week, but the hotel i do not think would be suitable for a holiday as the numbers attending conferences, exhibitions etc. would swamp you in the public areas and restaurants.

Thessaloniki GREECE

We definitely must visit that city. The narrow streets, churches and beautiful view from the cafes with sea view, the White tower, the monument of Aristotelus are just some of the sightseeings in Thessaloniki. Good place to stay is hotel Capsis.

Rhodes

Pat and I visted Rhodes in May 2003. We stayed at the Capis Hotel on the outskirts of Rhodes Town on a timeshare exchange.

Although the hotel was nice enough and the staff very helpfull the timeshare apartments were below the standard that we expected. You had to reach them via the main Hotel and walk through a conference facility to get to your apartment. We were originally booked in for two weeks and had booked it a year in advance. However the Capsis contacted us 2 weeks before we were due to go saying that we could not stay there for the second week as there was to be a big conference. They offered to find us alternative accommadation but as the exchange had been arranged through RCI we had them do it.

The second week saw us in the Sun Beach Apartments. These were much nicer, cleaner than the Capsis!

Rhodes Town is very good, especially the old town!
