Travel Tips for Rodos (City)

FROM SOCCER TO TENNIS AND FROM GOLF TO SAILING

by miman

Movement is the watchword when you're spending your vacation on Rhodes. The commitment to being well and physical activities has led to the development of structures able to stimulate even the laziest. Either on the organized beaches or on the remote tranquil ones, at the pools or at any spot where the sea dallies with the shores of Rhodes, swimming is one of the most beautiful ways for sports. - The beautiful beaches and the sea are ideal for movements and sports.

It's like Paradise for water sport enthusiasts. Rhodes offers a fantastic opportunity for those, who like to try something little different. On an island as hospitable as Rhodes, sports are a big pleasure. Sea sports collect plenty people, both local and foreigner, on the beaches to enjoy the bounty of nature and the hot sun.

The dolphins’ monument in the Great Harbour

by Fam.Rauca

The monument is placed at the entrance in the Great Harbour of Rhodes.

It represents a few swimming dolphins, as symbol of the sea.

It is a beautiful artistic creation on the shore of the sea.

Birthday Meal

by sandysmith about Symposium

A traditional greek restaurant, tucked away in a quiet lane in the old town was the choice for my birthday meal. Nice courtyard garden and live greek music played. Waiter service was a bit slow but amusingly they asked which country you were from (for some strange reason most thought I was Scandinavian!) and then the relevant flag was placed on your table - perhaps it helped the waiters decide in which language to speak to you!? Once again a mixed greek plate was my preferred choice - extensive menu though. I wasn't disappointed with my selection either and prices were moderate. On my plate is moussaka, stuffed aubergine, beef stafado, stuffed vine leaves etc...

Beach Of Agathi

by RoyJava

You won't believe this!
Everybody is looking for beach, sea and wind, and the Dutch fashion crew went into the desert. Yet, close to the Beach of Agathi we found a splendid blue skied place, looked like a semi-desert. And stock-still ... not any soul around!

For lunch we went to the Gold Beach of Agathi, situated in a small sandy bay, with deep, golden sand and some clear waters with a few underground rocks. To return into desert!

The Street of the Knights

by miman

The Street of the Knights is one of the best preserved and most delightful medieval relics in the world. The 600m long, cobble - paved street was constructed over an ancient pathway that led in a straight line from the Acropolis of Rhodes to the port. In the early 16th century, it became the address for most of the inns of each nation, which housed Knights who belonged to the Order of St. John. The inns were used as eating clubs and temporary residences for visiting dignitaries, and their facades reflect the various architectural details of their respective countries.
