The monument to eterne glory
The monument represents an angel with a crown of laurel leaves in the hand.
It was created in honour and to eterne glory for the heroes that died for the liberation of the island, in the time period 1943-1945.
These heroes were the Greek Sacred Regiments, the British Marine and Air Force, the French War Navy, and the whole population of the Dodecanese Islands.
The statue is placed between the Governor Palace and the Mandraki Harbour.
We was enchanted from the sweetly products, that we eaten in this pastry shop in Rhodes.
The little café house is an elegant restaurant in the centre of the city.
The products are delightful and made us obsessed to them.
The chocolate cakes and the traditional Greek sweetly products were for us a joy and a pleasure.
Mount Filerimos is located 8ks from Rhodes, near the village of Trianta. The village stands on the on the site of the ancient city of Ialysos. Between Trianta and Filerimos, archeologists found the necropolis of ancient Ialyssos.
On the hilltop, lots of ancient ruins can be found. The monastery of Filerimos is here also.
On the road leading to the Filerimos monastery, there are the remains of a Greek temple, the baptistery of the first Christian basilica and the underground chapel of St George.
The views from the top of this Mountain are fantastic. You can see all over Rhodes and the surrounding countryside, well worth the effort to get here.

Detour from the moat
At strategic places on the moat walk are maps showing you where you are and the various access routes there are in to the old town - just in case you don't want to walk all the moat. Some just look like small tunnels - bu trust me they do lead into the old town!
