More Beautiful Than Mr. Sun?
by RoyJava
Rhodos, "more beautiful than the sun" according to the ancient Greeks, is the most fertile of the Dodecanese, ringed by gold sandy beaches, covered with gorgeous flowers, blessed with sunny days almost most of the year, dotted with handsome towns and lovely villages full of monumental spots evoking a long, colorful history and her beautiful and remarkably preserved medieval city of Rhodos. Not a love-song to Rhodos, just some thoughts of a wonderful island, and yes, there are some very touristy areas. But there are still many unspoilt areas, too, and to work on this island was a true blessing. It wasn't that difficult to made up the models look like as beautiful as Aphrodite ... and I think any Aphrodite still is more beautiful than any Mr. Sun ...

Temple Of Aphrodite
by RoyJava
Ofcourse we visited the city of Rhodos to do some fashion shots. No swimming-suits though more dressy clothes. Enter the Old Town through the Gate of Freedom (Pili Elefhterias), near the New Market (Mandraki) and come upon the Simi Sq.
There you'll find immediatedly the spare remains, the ruins of the Temple Of Aphrodite, dating from the 3rd century BC. and, one of the few ancient remains to be found in the Old Town. One of the few ancients sites, too, to have survived the years ... In the Archaeological Museum you can see a beautiful statue of the Goddess Of Love ...

The Deers versus Colossus
by Irina
They say that the deers are now in the places where the feet of the Colossus used to be. This gives you an idea about how big the Colossus was. Nowadays, Greeks talk very much about rebuilding it. In case that anyone asks me, I'm against this project. They should not destroy a myth; the beauty of the Colossus is it's legend. Then, where and how to put the huge statue and still preserve the charming look of the harbour with its small buildings? And if they don't rebuild it there, then it won't be The Colossus, right?
Beach Anthony Quinn
by miman
Natural stone surfaces ideal for reclining under the sun, pine trees reaching down to the water's edge, emerald green water - Anthony Quinn certainly showed impeccable taste when he fell in love with its miniature bay. The beach is known today by the actor's name since he bought this part of the island when filming "The Guns of Navarone" here. The waters owe their deep emerald colour to the kush green vegetation which surrounds the beach. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes. It's mostly popular with young people - especially Italians - since the sharp rocks both in and out of the water are not ideal for families with young children or elderly people. You will find people here only in July and August - during the rest of the year the water is so much too cold for most people.
