Rhodes - Turkish bath
by mickebear
Surprising feature in a Greek town: Turkish bath. Surprising because I forgot that Turkey and Greece did retain some civilized form of relationship, when the countries separated in the 1920s.
Also great way to get to know locals - we were the only tourists in the bath, among around 20 local men.
Filerimos Cross
by sandysmith
To west of the cafe by the site of lalyssos is a tree-lined avenue with rather grim stations of the cross leading to a huge cross 17m high. This large cross has an internal staircase and be climbed - although the views from the ground are probably jut as good. Good views of Rhodes airport runway from here.

by Fam.Rauca about Fish Taverna
This fish tavern is a traditional restaurant, situated in the old part of the city.
This is placed next to the old ruins of the church that was destroyed during the attacks of the Turks, in year 1522.
The old building of the restaurant is a part of the old architecture of the area.
The guests have the possibility to eat here, fish specialities and other exquisite meals.
The atmosphere is familiar and the personnel are friendly and hospitable.
Fish specialities, or other seafood, a good wine or a fresh beer, are to be eating in this wonderful restaurant.
Windmills
by steventilly
Down the breakwater at the back of Mandraki harbour stand the remnants of three windmils. Once there were more of these all along the harbour, and others can be seen in other parts of all of the harbours of Rhodes, and indeed along the coast from Elli beach. Probably these ones at the harbour were used to grind flour from grain unloaded at the harbour, saving the trouble of moving the grain before milling it.
