how can i go from Istanbul to rhodes by air or ship
and which one is better

Re: please answer

by brotherleelove

On Turkish Airways it's easy to fly from Istanbul to Bodrum, then catch the boat from Bodrum to Rhodes.

RE: please answer

There is no direct connection between Rhodes & Bodrum!!!!
Rhodes is connected directly only with Marmaris!!!
From Bodrum you have to go first to Kos and then to Rhodes.
so I think the best is to take a flight from Konstantinoupoli to Athens and then from there by plane or ship to Rhodes

When I was in Bodrum there were ferries leaving every morning to Rhodes. I suppose it's possible that they were going to Marmaris first, but I don't think so.

Travel Tips for Rodos (City)

The town walls.

by Maurizioago

These were built probably on Byzantine fortifications in many stages; from 1400 to 1500. The walls are around 4 km long. They have several towers and eleven gates. Each order of knights (Langues) was responsible for the defense of a section of the walls.

Get nude in Rhodos

by mickebear

There is at least one good nude beach in Rhodos, at around 3 km south of Faliraki.

The only official naturist beach on Rhodes is 3 km south of the centre of Faliraki. It can be approached by walking as far south as you can along Faliraki beach. Access by road is achieved by turning left (from the north) or right (from the south) at the traffic lights on the main road just outside Faliraki. Immediately take the left of the two forks and follow the road, bearing right at the junction and then past Muses Hotel. After a sign indicating 'swimming pool-café bar' there is another indicating 'nudist beach - FKK strand'. A short dirt track leads up to the cliff edge overlooking the beach. Parking is possible here. Presently you can access the middle of the beach via a track running down the cliff or via an easy slope to the north end of the beach.

Go to Lindos

by miman

Most visitors of the island's east coast flow to Lindos (47 km from the city of Rhodes), built on the ruins of the ancient Doric town of the same name. In medieval times Lindos was the second most important centre of the island, after the city of Rhodes itself. The ancient Acropolis was then built into a castle. It is said that St. Paul the Apostle landed here when he came to the island of Rhodes; accordingly, the tiny harbour on the other side of the village has been named 'Agios Pavlos'.
Under the steep cliff of the Acropolis lies the present townlet, charming with its whitewashed houses and pebbled courtyards. Houses retain traditional interiors, heavy ironwork on balconies and brown windows. Some 15th-century houses have been officially declared traditional buildings to be preserved. One should also visit the church of the Virgin Mary (Panagia) of Lindos and the chapel of Agios Pavlos.
A series of steps leads to the Acropolis. Inside the main gate we discern the ruins of the Knights' Lodge and the byzantine church of St. John. Outside the Doric Stoa the prow of a Lindian Hellenistic trireme has been carved in a rock (4.5m x 5m). We cross the Doric Stoa (5th century BC) with its 42 columns (20 have been restored) and climb the majestic staircase to a higher terrace with Propylaean ruins (5th century BC). From this point we reach the Sanctuary of Lindian Athena, with its elegant bi-prostyle temple on the edge of the cliff (4th century). Ruins of an ancient theatre have been found on the slope of the Acropolis.
There are other beauties on this part of the island besides antiquities.

St.Pavlos Gate, part of the Torsana Gates

by Fam.Rauca

This is a gate situated in the north-east of the old town wall.

This gate makes part of the Torsana Gates that was rebuilt into the 20th century.

This makes the connection between the Emborio Harbour and the Mandraki Harbour.
