I AM WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME HOW FAR/CLOSE FALIRAKI IS TO RHODES TOWN? MY BOYFRIEND (22) AND MYSELF(20) ARE GOING TO STAY AT THE RHODOS BEACH HOTEL IN RHODES TOWN AT THE END OF JUNE, AND ALTHOUGH WE ARE YOUNG WE DO NOT WANT THE TACKINESS THAT IS FALIRAKI. WE WANT A NICE HOLIDAY WITH THINGS TO DO, EG WATERPARK(-CAN ANYONE ALSO GIVE ME INFO ON THIS?), BOAT TRIPS ETC AND NICE RESTAURANTS, BARS TO GO TO BUT NOTHING LOUD OR HECTIC AS IT IS MORE ROMANCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR!AM ABIT WORRIED THAT WE WILL BE OVERRUN BY 18-30 STYLE BAR CRAWLS! ANY INFO / HELP / TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. MANY THANKS.

Rhodes town is about 11km from Faliraki. Hiring a car is probably your best option - then you can see and do whatever you like!

I would suggest you stay in Lindos, this has plenty of bars & nightlife restaurants as well but not tacky. Rhodes town also has it's selection of tacky bars around Orfanidou St.

Waterpark is sensational. You will love it. Costs about 25 Euro for memory maybe 30 at Worst. But its worth it, go early.
Lindos is a great place, and Faliraki is for the young and stupid.
The best place in all of Rhodes is a place called KIOTARI.
Go to the Beach there, and then the Bar that is on the beach in the late afternoon. It's a fabulous place and the water and the sand is inviting. The water is clear and this beach is not overcrowded, in fact, its that out of the way, that the beach is spread out for you to enjoy.
I went back to Kiotari 4 times whilst in Rhodes for 4 weeks. had it not been far from Rhodes town, I would of went back more often. I did not want my sister who lives there to drive my family there on a daily basis.
You need a car for kiotari.
Once there you will know where to go.

There's a VERY secluded beach at Fourni - if you drive south as far as you can go you might find it ... we only found it by chance... but it's fabulous. Glystra beach is just a shortish drive south from Lindos and that's lovely too. Ohh I think I need to go back!!

Rhodes town is a city that has alot of traffic with not alot of oxygen - old town Rhodes is a must-see ( but one day is enough ).
I second the Lindos recommendation - the location is right about the middle of the island - with a car or scooter you can see everything in a week's vacation.

Oh yeah - don't miss the water park - very good value at 27 Euros for the day. Makes you feel like a kid again!
