Parks in Rhodes Town
by miman
There are many reasons why Rhodes is one of the most popular resorts in the Mediterranean: the natural surroundings (crystal clear seas, many parks and recreational facilities), the bright sun and the warm hospitality of the islanders themselves.
Enjoying the rest..

There's no entrance fee to see the artifacts on Monte Smith and if you manage to avoid the coach parties that tour up here it is a peaceful spot - good place for me to write my postcards!
The name Smith refers to Sydney Smith, a British Admiral, here in the 1800's who also greatly admired the view from here, so much that the hill retained his name.S
Traditional Taverna Restaurant
by Fam.Rauca about Rustico
This is a traditional Greek restaurant, situated in the middle of the old part of the city of Rhodes.
The furniture and the decorations of the restaurant are made in a rustically form and give to the restaurant an agreeable and familiar atmosphere.
The food is very good and exquisite, and the personnel are friendly and hospitable.
Many traditional meals are to be eating in this oasis of history and tradition.
Windmills
by sandysmith
On the way to Fort St Nicholas these old windmills are seen. They were once mill grains in the middle ages. Sadly the millstones were removed many years ago and their sails in more recent years but they are still a popular place to vist for the views as evidenced by artists we saw out here.
14 other such mills were also on the breakwater of Rhodes commercial harbour but were destroyed in an earthquake. Keeep your eyes peeled around Rhodes though as there were others too.
City Walls
by sandysmith
The moat is open all the time and has free access. The walls themselves however are only only to the public on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons at 2.45pm. Tickets cost 6 euros and are obtained from the Grand Master's Palace - a gate leading onto the walls will be opened near here and leads around to the far exit point near the commercial harbour. Its worth taking for the unusual views of the town and to see how amazingly thick the walls are in places. Take care there are no safeguards on the walls - more pics in the travelogue below.
