Troulos Bay & Town facilities
Hi
We are staying at Troulos Beach Hotel in September & have a few questions if anyone can help please.
1. How far to walk from Troulos Beach Hotel to Troulos village.
2. What facilities are there in Troulos village Reataurants / bars / Shops / Supermarkets etc.
3. Taxi costs & travel time to Skiathos town from Troulos Beach.
4. Do taxis charge more after a certain time in the evening?
5. Where are the nearest Bank cash machines (ATMs) to Troulos Beach?
A good few questions sorry, but first time in Skiathos so hope someone can help.

I've been going to Skiathos for many years about 5 times back to the late 80s.
1. and 2. There is no village at Troulos, the only village on Skiathos is Skiathos town. The Troulos Bay is about 5 min walk to the main road bus stop 20 where there is a scattering of restaurants the odd bar/tourist shops/small mini markets and the usual tourist facilities. Basically between bus stops 18-20. The 'centre' such as it is the road junction at bus stop 18.
3. and 4. Taxis are double tariff after I think 24:00. Taxis should be about 10 Euros/10 min - long queues for taxis and buses around 24:00 in Skiathos town. There are buses to/from Skiathos town up until about 24:00 in September, it's seasonal, changes just about every week, so look at the timetable, legendarily packed at peak times.
5. Nearest ATMs Banks are in Skiathos town.
The weird references to bus stop numbers are because the south coast road from Skiathos town harbour(0) to Koukounaries(26) is a continuous ribbon and it's difficult to know exactly where you are.

A good option is to rent a motorbike or pedibikes. Distances in Skiathos are quite short. It is possible that some big hotels are hosting ATMs. If your stay is quite long, you can visit also the neighbouring islands Skopelos and Alonnisos as well as the Marine Park of Sporades. Check the pages in VT about the above islands.

With small white houses in their majority,built close to each other you will feel the hospitality of the island taking over you from the minute you step on the island .Built of stone with external whitewashed walls,the local houses will amaze you.The narrow streets,the corners of the houses are cut in such a way so that walking through them is easier and at the same time they give you a sense of unforgettable hospitality.As far as the fashion tradition goes,be aware that a hundred and twenty years ago,everybody in Skiathos,men and women were wearing the local,traditional clothes but nowadays we could say that fashion is totally updated.The rich cultural background of the island is obvious in every corner and will undoubtedly cast its spell on you.

the harbour is very nice and lots of walks to do................. hi there just returned form pretty skiathos the whole town is fab.yes it can be a bit more expensive but never mind .we loved skiathos and we will return................
the boat trips ae great and u get a water taxi to tsourgiis beach .........across the bay its very nice.for 8 euros return
as fir the eating out palces be very carefull with the water front eateries as they tend to be more expensive...........very.....!!!!!!!
half way through the week we tended to stroll rouind the bak and uo the main street as there lots of good tavernas there........
the bourtzy island is very nice to sit at night and sip on a large cool beer...............for hubby and i drank a very large baileys....total 8 euros..........
jimmys bar at the end of the harbour is a good place for cocktails ..........and the fish restraunt near by served the best fish
stay away from the upper level of resatraunts above the harbour where u can sit and look out ...u cant miss them....we got toatlly ripped off there for a fish and steak meal...........
but we will return....................
