More about Anastasia Hotel
One Of The Best In Protaras, Cyprus
The reception area of the hotel is incredibly spectacular with lots of greenery as decoration. The rooms themselves are quite spacious and most of the rooms will offer a side seaview. They are nicely decorated. There are several swimming pools in the hotel including one indoor one.
Evening entertainement is provided most all year round catering for all age ranges and tastes. Usually the entertainment is delivered in both English and German.
There are also organised daytime activities for those who want to participate including: walks, darts, aqua-aerobics, and five-a-side football.
we stayed in the Anastasia...
we stayed in the Anastasia hotel in Hania but there are plenty of apartments and self catering as well swimming pool and entertainment nightly
We have just returned from a fortnights holiday at the Hotel Anastasia. This is a fantastic hotel that is run by two Greek brothers Billy and Michael, they are always around the hotel, helping out and joining in with their clients. It is spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. The rooms are situated around the complex in two or three storey blocks, which makes it feel like a small village, each room has a safe, air conditioning, TV, radio, free fridge, TV and phone. The maids cleaned every day and changed towels and bedding every couple of days.
The food is excellent and you are able to eat alfrecso all of the time. All of the staff can't do enough to make your holiday enjoyable, they join in with the entertainment on a regular basis.
Hotel Anastasia is located on the main road, but this is not a problem as there is an underpass right outside the hotel. The hotel is far enough away from the main resorts of Stalis and Malia, not to be affected by the noise but near enough to have a steady walk. Stalis is about 10 minutes walk away and Malia is about 20 minutes walk away.
Kids club and Evening Entertainment is run by an English lad called John who works really hard to make your holiday special, he is brilliant with the kids (squids as he calls them). There is entertainment on every night ranging from, the not to be missed Karaoke and Greek Night to quiz night, games evening, mini disco, music quiz, film night live music and BBQ.
Stalis is a lovely resort with a beautiful golden beach, lots a classy looking restaurants, however we never had to use them as the food was so good in the hotel. It has lots of bars, tavernas, supermarkets, bakeries and souvenir shops. The bus service is excellent and runs regularly, you can visit many other resorts quite cheaply, using the high quality, air conditioned coaches that stop just outside the hotel. the only thing to be aware of in this resort is Quad bikes, they are everywhere and can be a bit of a nusiance to start with, however by the end of the holiday we didn't notice them as much. If you go right into Stalis centre it is pedestrianised, so they are not allowed.
Malia is 18 - 30's clubbers paradise and may not be suitable for young families but just over the busy road is Old Malia which is worth a visit as you are once again in a very quaint greek village without a nightclub or disco in sight.
On the whole this is a brilliant hotel and resort, we had been to Geece before but it was our 10 year old sons first visit, he had a brilliant time and can't wait to go again. We would have no hesitation in recommending both the Hotel Anastasia and Stalis to anyone. We had a super time and will definately return again soon, which is something that we don't normally do.
We have recently returned from a 2 week holiday at Anastasia Hotel. We travelled as a family of 4 - with 2 children aged 7 and 5 - and we all had a fantastic time. The hotel is brilliant! Everywhere is spotlessly clean - hotel rooms are cleaned every day, with bedding and towles changed every other day. The pool area, bar area and restaurant are also absolutely spotless. We stayed on a half-board basis and the food was excellent, with always a large selection of dishes to choose from. One thing that really stikes you about this hotel is the family friendly atmosphere. All of the staff are fantastic. They are extremely friendly and can't do enough for you. They all make a big fuss of any children in the hotel. With regards to the entertainment - all of the entertainment is done by John, who I have to say was absolutely brilliant! He does the Kids Club and children's mini disco 6 days a week, as well as evening entertainment 6 nights a week. He is a natural with children - our 2 children thought he was fab and both hope he is there next year! All in all a great family holiday - you simply cannot fault this place. Spotlessly clean, friendly staff, great food, lovely pool area (with free use of inflatables) - can't wait to return next year.
Best I have experienced in Greece
My wife and I along with our two boys have just returned from a 11 day stay at the Anastasia Hotel. The hotel is very clean, rooms are cleaned every day, beds and towles changed every other day. The food was excellent, with a large selection of dishes to choose from although these got a bit repetative towards the end, particularly breakfast which was the same every day. We would have liked to have seen a little more local food at dinner and fewer chips!
The staff are all very good, including the gardener / groundsman who keeps the whole site looking good, Niki in Reception is particularly helpful and was a great help when we had to contact the taxi firm we used for the transfer back to the airport. They are extremely friendly and can't do enough for you. The entertainment is OK, a bit Blackpool'ish - bingo, kareoke, Mr & Mrs, general knowledge quiz etc and is run by John. If I had to really find one fault I would say that the hotel needs a slightly bigger pool, what they have is lovely, warm and clean but with so many people, inflatables etc it was at times difficult to swim around unobstructed.
Biggest plus point - the air con and fridge in the room, cold drink when ever you wanted it!
We would definitely return one day, this was a major improvement on previous stays in Greece. The one down point is having to use Heraklion airport, it has not changed one little bit since I was last there 18 years ago ! ! ! ! !
By far and away the best accommodation I have stayed in in Greece. Any hotel that includes air con and a bath in the price in Greece is worth staying at. Lovely grounds, spotlessly clean, friendly staff. Pool and pool bar area clean and well arranged. Food was good, like all half board it gets a bit repetitive after a while so we ate out twice during the week. Salads were great and the breakfasts even better! Bar prices a bit steep compared to the resort itself. Internet available if you so wished and vending machines that seemed to supply whatever you could need! Second hand and new books available for lend/purchase. Wish I could comment on the entertainment, don't have kids and we are the kind who like to get out day and night and sample the local life so not sure about the evenings... but lots of the people staying there were there in the evenings and seemed entertained enough. Quizzes, karaoke, film night, barbecue, live music.
As I said, we are the type who like to get around the resort and the island so we spent a lot of time away from the hotel. The downside to this is its distance from the rest of the resort. Stalis is fairly big and runs into Malia, the hotel is closer to Malia although as it is on the main road, very quiet. The best way to the town was under the underpass, turn right and down the first road on the left hand side, leads onto the beach road but beware.... the walk from the hotel to the end of the Stalis beach road is in excess of 45 minutes... consequently the only way we saw it all was on the day we hired the quad bike!! 20 mins walk will get you into the middle of the beach road and there are lots of bars and restaurants - the beach itself is great, clean and well looked after - average of about 4 euros for a sunbed and parasol.
Try Baywatch restaurant or the Beachcomber bar - right on the beach - bliss in the evenings!!
Stalis in June not a place full of teenagers and 20 somethings, go to Malia for an eyeopener if you dare. Mostly couples, families with toddlers and groups that look like they used to go to Malia but have grown out of it and want somewhere with a bit of life but relaxed and safe.
Car hire in June cheap and deals included full insurance. Was told it would go up in high season though which would be expected I guess.
Crete gorgeous and the bigger towns worth going to see, public transport cheap and mostly runs to timetable, air con coaches which is a blessing.
Unfortunately the island is so big it is a long drive to the other end but you can spend a week tootling around the eastern end in places like Elounda and Ag Nik and Heraklion, Sitea and not get bored.
People comment on the quad bikes, just don't go to Malia, they are insane on them.
Back to the hotel... recommend it to anyone, just a bit too far from the rest of Stalis for us, although if you hire a car like we did, there are parking spaces at the front of the hotel. If you like lazing round the pool and spending evenings in the hotel, go to the Anastasia and you won't be disappointed!!
My wife and I had a wonderfull two weeks here. We had checked trip advisor before booking and were not dissappointed. ALL the staff were friendly and helpful, even the noise obsessed night porter. We had been expectecting to have to eat out thinking the food would be average. This was not the case. Entertainment is OK lets face it its not Las Vegas. The beech is ten minutes walk and Stalis and Malia are about 15. The hotel is of the main road and half way between the 2 towns. This is a great hotel to get away to. There were a large number of families with small kids and the hotel seemed to suit them very well. Our room overloked the pool and was all you could want. The staff here will go out of their way to ensure you enjoy yourself. I seldom recommend a hotel or holiday to anyone because all tastes are different, but I have recommended this hotel to many friends and family. This is not a party hotel, and the 18 to 30 crowd normally don't stay. This hotel although near Malia will not suit them and they are not encouraged. The only thing wrong with this holiday is waiting for next year so we can return.
Many thanks to all the staff, management and other guests who made this the best holiday ever. If you like Crete then I heartily recommmend this hotel to you.
lovely hotel, friendly staff
spotless hotel, food fine, staff outstanding, very friendly and helpful. the cleanest hotel i have ever stayed in-all staff v hardworking.
close to malia but far enough away to escape the madness (watch out for quads though).
my children (11, 12, 16) loved it and were sad to leave - best wishes to tony, manos, maria, costas, johan and john who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. we would recommend this hotel highly to anyone wishing to visit crete.
'Court of King Caractacus
Well my Husband, son and I have not long got back from a week long stay at this hotel, it is all the good points that the other reviews say.
Excellent variety of breakfast options allowing you to choose something different nearly everyday: Cooked (4 varieties of cooked egg alone), Cereals (choice of 3), Fruit (includng Prunes), Croisants, Toast, Cake and shortbread.
Dinner there was always a good selection of meat and fish, Soup, Veg, Lots of different cold salads including Pasta or Rice, always something for the most picky of tastes. BBQ night once a week.
Kids (Squids) club twice a day run by 'John', this is for 2 hours a session pay as you go 2 Euros 50.
The Evening entertainment was also run by John who was entertaining! It included various things like: quiz nights, games night, karaoke, John playing his guitar and singing his own songs and kids mini disco.
If pool bar family entertainment is your thing then it may be worth aquainting yourself with " The Actions to Rolf Harris' - The Court of King Caractacus.......nudge nudge wink wink...". If not then Stalis has got plenty of bars, restaurants and shops.
Easy to reach the beach cutting through Kyknos Hotel then Alexander Hotel.
Where do we start? This was one of the most relaxing, fun holidays we have ever had, this hotel was just wonderful. we arrived at 10.45pm, and after a lovely welcome as we checked in, we were shown to our room, helped with our luggage then asked to come to the restaurant where a cold platter was waiting for everyone. This was a really nice touch and one that is indicative of the care and attention shown to all the guests during their stay.
The hotel is small and this adds to it's charm as you quickly get to know everyone and find your way about. The room was fine, with a fridge inc a small icebox, a good-sized bathroom and FREE air-conditioning, which was a godsend in 40 degree heat! The towels were changed every other day and the sheets twice a week. The grounds of the hotel were immaculate, lovely flowers everywhere and no litter to be seen anywhere. It is owned by two brothers, Billy and Micheal, and they were great, friendly and warm whilst ensuring the place ran like clockwork.
The food was terrific, esp the breakfasts (watch out for the chocolate sauce, it's sooo addictive! Well, I was on my holidays!!!) There was a full cooked breakfast, aswell as continental, and cake, fruit, etc. There was always a great choice at dinner and it was lovely to eat outside every night if you wanted. The staff are second to none, best wishes to Kostas, Maria, Tony and all, they were fab.
The entertainment was low-key and really good fun, made so by the true King Caractacus, John, who was a star. It ranged from quizzes, bingo, karaoke and games nights to Greek Night, and it was a real laugh, what you expect at a family hotel. If you wanted things a bit livelier, then Stalis is only a 10 min walk away (cut through the Hotel Kyknos, don't walk round) where there are loads of bars and restaurants. Just beware of the quads and scooters which were a bit of a pain, the road isn't very wide and you had to keep your eyes open for them!
The beach is also about 10 min away, and it was very clean with lots of watersports. The hotel is on a busy road but there is an underpass directly outside so it's not a problem, and I can honestly say the traffic noise is not an issue, you really do not hear it, you're that relaxed here.
There was only one problem with this hotel - I have to wait till next year before I can go again, and I cannot wait, it really was that good.
