Newly refurbished, this hotel is part of the 'Mellow Mood' group. I booked it as an Easyjet hotel deal, and it was fine for the price. It's convenient for walking around central Pest and for getting the Metro. There are 8 floors, but the lifts are new and efficient. Rooms are en-suite and have a mini-bar/phone/ tv. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, ham and cheeses, rolls, bread, yoghurts etc. The hotel can arrange taxi (minibus actually) transfers to and from Ferihegy airport if you don't want to use the airport minibus service. The staff are mostly young, seemingly rather harrassed at times but always polite (although they did tend to try and deal with several guests at once, rather than one at a time).

Interesting roof.......not the red tiles it seems to be, it's actually red corrugated iron. Could be quite noisy in heavy rain......and the trams which run along the street outside certainly were. Ask for a room at the back!

  • Originally booked into a 4* hotel over looking the river. Unfortunately once the booking was received it was declined as they were full.

I was a little disappointed when i found out the alternative was to be the Hotel Atlas as there would be a 1* downgrade and the location did not look as good.

However, we (2 couples) were pleasantly surprised once we arrived. There were 5 members of staff at the desk so the check in time was reduced and we were handed are keys very promptly. We arrived at the hotel at 10am (Wed) so we knew our rooms would not be ready so we took advantage of the 24 hour hotel bar and grabbed some breakfast (7am - 11am). Around an hour later our room was ready.

Rooms were very spacious and consisted of 2 single beds, which we were aloud to push together if required. The mini bar was a mini fridge and contained the usual (water, soft drinks, beer, spirits, chocolate and snacks) and was moderately priced. The bathroom was also spacious and extremely clean. It looked like they had been updated recently. The shower was very powerful and the correct temperature was easy to access. The only gripe here was the shower was connected at around 4.5ft. I'm 6ft 1 so i had to hold the shower above my head or bend my knees... not a huge problem.

Rooms were cleaned daily and the sheets were change every other day. There were always clean towels. The room had a decent size tele with many Hungarian and English speaking channels. We had out own Air Conditioning unit which was both quiet and effective. We had to ask for the remote control for both tele and AC and return them when we checked out.

The location of the hotel was infact good. We were close to the main shopping areas of Pest and the Andrassey Ut. We decided to walk to most places as we found alot can be missed on the Public Transport. Taxi’s were pretty reasonable and seemed to cost 1500 HUF (£4.13ish).

The hotel staff were extemely helpful. We did encounter some language barriers, but this was probably one of the highlights of the trip. Each night we would take our map to the reception and tell the staff what we wanted. They would all (maybe 3 - 4 staff in the evening) give their suggestions, give us details of prices, draw a map and phone a taxi if we wanted. This was very helpful as the places we wanted to go to were not always easy to find on foot.

Overall i would rate this hotel as a very good 3* hotel, i would recommend it to anyone wanting visit (Buda) Pest, not pay silly money but still want some home comforts. If i was to go again i would probably stay at a hotel on the Buda side as there was lots we didn't see.
