 | | | | Art'Otel Budapest: Priceline in Budapest-great hotel!
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
I took my chances with Priceline in Budapest and ended up with the Art 'otel for $70US + taxes. I was extremely happy about both the rate and the hotel. It was ideally situated on the Buda side of the Danube River with a view of Parliament. We got a 2nd floor room overlooking the Danube, if you are paying full price, ask for a room on the higher floors as there are trees obstructing the view from the lower floors. There was a business center with free internet on one computer, the sign said 30 minutes free but they didn't ask for your room number. People were generally quick about using it if there was a line.
Room-this is a newer hotel and as the hotel name implies, designed in an arty fashion. The furniture was Scandanavian, the carpet had a design with sewing things such as buttons, safety pins and thread. It was extremely clean. The room had a minibar/refrigerator, in room safe, air conditioning. The bed was on the soft side and the pillows were comfortable. Bathroom-hair dryer, soft big towels, Neutrogena soap and shampoo, body wash in a wall dispenser, good water pressure and lots of hot water. Breakfast-included in the rate even with Priceline, the excellent buffet included eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, pastries, juice, coffee/tea, meats, cheeses. You could eat inside or outside on the terrace if you could find a spot. Local transport-within 5 minutes of the Batthyany Ter metro/bus stop, there was also trams 19 and 41 that stopped right across from the hotel. Restaurants-several close by, I'll find the names shortly Desk staff-very helpful with directions, booked our return minivan, very pleasant Leave a Comment

 | | | | Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest: Luxury Kempi'n in the center :)
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The Kempinski Hotel Corvinus is of course nothing like camping...:) Locals tend to call it "Kempi", which pretty much resebles to the Hungarian word Kemping (Camping) in writing and in pronunciation as well, that's where my poor joke is coming from :) It's an elegant yet modern hotel in the heart of the city, offering everything an expensive hotel should offer: elegant restaurants (Bistro Jardin and Restaurant Giardino), pub, lounge, spa, shops, etc...
Well located, excellent service, luxury treatments in the spa Leave a Comment

Mayer-Rooms Inn is a small hotel / Pension with only 6 rooms, rather close to the centre - at about the place, where Karoly Körut meets Dohany utca - search on your map for the big Synagoge, from there it is only 100 meters, or click on my link below - they provide a rather good map as well ! This might be a perfect place to stay for my next time in Budapest !
I found this small hotel on a webpage about Budapest and saw that they have quite reasonable prices : Single-rooms for 20€ in winter and 30€ in summer ( breakfast is not included !!) 25€ for the double in winter 35€ in summer ! BUT I may just recommend to go around the corner and have breakfast in the Savoy-cafe (see my restaurant-tip!) Leave a Comment

Last time I was in Budapest it was for some two-weeks summer course at the Central European University. So I stayed at their student dorm. Which is one of the best student dorms, in Central Europe at least. It's situated in eastern part of the city, not very close to the center but with very good connections. I think you can even rent a room here if you're not their student, but since rates start at about 50 Eur for a single room I guess this is not the best option unless you're staying here for free (as I did).
Single rooms, air-conditioning, own bathroom, and the best: computer with free internet access in each room. They have a resturant at ground level. Oh yes, and a pool. And tennis courts. .... nice student dorm, I'm telling you ;-) Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Kerepesi ut 87. | | | | Platanus: Handy for the airport
Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
You may not have noticed, but Budapest Airport is one of the few international airports that is completely devoid of a handy hotel. You have to travel quite a distance before you can find a place to rest your head. I had managed to find a very cheap flight to Slovenia but which required an overnight stop in Budapest. I finally opted for the Platanus because it was the second closest hotel to the airport, and also on direct tram and underground lines to the city centre. It had the added advantage of being relatively cheap.
The hotel offers quite a range of services, including hairdresser, massage, conference centre and swimming pool. I used none of these as I arrived late and left early. Room serive is available, but only so long as the restaurant and kitchen were open. They also seemed to close earlier than advertised on quiet nights. The room was comfortable. A TV offered a range of fare, but the sound was lousy! there was a lobby bar downstairs and a reasonably stocked and priced mini-bar in the room. Staff were helpful though, and efficient. In short a handy place to stay if you need to escape quickly. But no life in the area. Rack rates are quite high but I got an internet deal for €38. 24 hour reception, bureau de change available.
