 | Budapest Reviews | Tips 31 - 40 of 590 | | When we returned to Budapest from Romania we hadn't arranged for any accomodation. We thouht we'd have time to actually search for something and then meet up with Inga. It all turned out differently.. For one thing, with a car searching for a nice palce to stay isn't easy.. So eventually we turned into Oboeda thinking we might have more luck in a less crowded street.. I knew we would find somethign soon since i really needed to go to the toilet.. always a good reason to make a decision... And then we saw the little sign 'panzio'.. and it directed us to this really nice B&B. The room was not very special. But the hostes asked us whether we would like to have breakfast on the big balcony the next morning if the weather was nice.. and we were completely sold.
So, the next mornign we had this really perfect breakfast in the sun with much coffee, breakfast things and and an egg boiled just the right way... All for 50 euro for 2 people and 4 euro each for the breakfast.. We stayed there for 6 nights ($280 for 2 people) for a room with shared bathroom and liked everything about the place: it was clean, cozy and quiet at night; free Internet at your disposal whenever you want it, with different ISQs and Skype installed; nice kitchen with big TV; washing machine in the bathroom (very old though), location, next to the metro/pubs/embankment. They also arranged a transfer from/to the airpost for 3000 HUF (~$14) each way. The guy who is in charge (Liam from USA) lives there, so whenever you need something, you can just knock on his door and ask. He`s very friendly and helpful. |

You can look up the amenities etc on the kk website, these are as described. What stood out was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, in every department. The hotel itself is modern and comfortable with all the facilities which you would expect of a good city hotel.
My favourite experince was on my first full day - I decided to sleep late, put out the "do not disturb" sign and didn't get up till gone midday. Having made myself a coffee - they actually have such in-room facilities, I phoned down for the iron and ironing board, which arrived in minutes. Pressing out the travel creases from my clothes there was all of a sudden a stream of various housemaids - "Can we make your room up sir?" "Can we restock your minibar?" Everything was done with smiles, the cleaning is definetly the most thorough I've come across - no corner was untouched. Quite often when I stay in what purports to be a quality hotel, I find that when I have a soak in the bath I can see under the sink and wish I couldn't! This hotel even the stainless steel u-bend under the sink had been polished. Within a day the night porter knew my room number and had my key ready when I came in, "Evening sir, have you had a pleasant night?" I had a problem using my British mobile - a phone call to reception sorted that, they knew what codes I had to use. Room service was prompt, the food excellent. Definetly a perfect hotel for the money. when i arrived on my second stage around 22nd of October 2005 i was searching hostels after my expensive overnight train from bucharest (40euros) walking with my bloody backapck at 8 am in the morning...we stop first in Marco Polo hostel , i knew it wasnt nice but its the closest to the station ..it was overcrowded !! i walked to the second one in the list , Mellow mood hostel located in Becsi Utca 2..actually is the center of the city and well comunicated closer to Vaci utca..the most expensive street or at least it gets the most trendy shops ...and they told me it was already full ..!!! so we had to make some calls to friends and at last i found a friends pad to sleep there... the prices vary around 12 euros in low season 15 in october and 18 in high season but the breakfast is not included butits just 2 euros so this is an advice if you are on tour around eastern try to book in advance in budapest...doesnt mind if its october or whatever...everybody loves it and come here lol !!! Not for other places in Romania or Poland but here in Budapest there are a lot of backapackers all year round..and i say backpackers cos i didnt see so much typical tourists in the city on that time Leave a Comment |

Our stay at the Red Bus hostel was very pleasant. It not the most sociable hostel that Ive stayed in, but its clean and centrally located in Pest. The staff are really helpful, and you can get your laundry done for 1200ft!!!!
Our dorm was fairly spacious, the breakfast was good - juice, coffee, toast. The main bonus for us, was that the kitchen here is huge and so well equipped - it has everything that you should need. The security here is good too, you get a key depending on which dorm you are in, otherwise you need to buzz. They have Internet access but that is not included in the price. | | | | Budapest Hilton: Old and New at Hilton Budapest Compare Rates NEW! Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
If you're looking for a luxury location on Castle Hill, then the Hilton has to be your choice. Built in 1976, the builders of the Hilton incorporated the wall of an old Jewish cloister and enclosed the Gothic remains of an old Dominican church, but in a way that allows the public to visit the church remains. Even the windows are tinted a shade of brown so that when you look at the hotel, it blends in with the surrounding buildings.
Some have lauded the Hilton as an example of seamlessly blending the old with the new, while others criticize it as being obtrusive and even gaudy. I'm undecided, but the location and service are all one expects from the luxury chain.
