    The Hilton Budapest existed already in Communiste times and I really cannot understand that is was possible to build such an ugly building so close to the fisher bastion and the Matthias-church.

    As a matter of fact it is a great location for a hotel, it simply is a desaster for everyone looking AT the Fisher Bastion and its surrounding from a distance !
    When driving up the hill with your own car, you will get a seperate entrance-chip for the gate , as soon as you checked in the hotel.

    Stay was ok. For whatever reason the front desk people just never seem very happy (nor helpful). Its a nice location in tems of being rightin the Castle area. The rooms on the back of the hotel have great views of budapest, especially the parlament building. Can walk to the chain bridge in about 12-15 minutes so Budapest is easily accessable from there.

    Wish this hotel provided more information about regular things to do in Budapest.

    Great view of Budapest available.

    Right in Castle Area and walk right outside to see Castle and Castle view.

    Workout room is not very good - tough to get a good workout - you have to rely on walking around Budapest.

    Executive lounge provides good breakfast buffet in the morning.

    The hotel shuttle from the airport is free for the Hilton Budapest - the only hotel that can say that - so it does save you some money.

    If you're looking for a luxury location on Castle Hill, then the Hilton has to be your choice. Built in 1976, the builders of the Hilton incorporated the wall of an old Jewish cloister and enclosed the Gothic remains of an old Dominican church, but in a way that allows the public to visit the church remains. Even the windows are tinted a shade of brown so that when you look at the hotel, it blends in with the surrounding buildings.

    Some have lauded the Hilton as an example of seamlessly blending the old with the new, while others criticize it as being obtrusive and even gaudy. I'm undecided, but the location and service are all one expects from the luxury chain.

    There is long dispute about this Hotel and its architecture as it is located at the Castle area. Personally I don’t think it is really bad, after all, they did try to fit it somehow into the landscape. I saw modern Hiltons in old cities that were 15 floors high with no any considerations for the classic landscape.

    As mentioned in the introduction, we took the early train to Budapest and arrived before 11:00. Now getting from the train station to the hotel was an adventure...lol...we had the help of many locals to get us on the correct bus/trolley...but we got there. And what an awesome location...The Hilton Budapest is located in the heart of the historical Castle District (one of UNESCO's World Heritage sites) next to Hungary's gothic Coronation Church, the Matthias Church, Fisherman's Bastion and across the Danube from the Hungarian Parliament Building. Usually, you can't check in until after 2:00 p.m., but we called in advance and got to our suite before 11:30, the hotel staff knew us by our first name, provided directions to things we wanted to see, recommendations on places to eat, and so much more...now that's what I call customer service. The amenities were everywhere, from our gorgeous room with a king size bed, water and fruits provided, color tv, bath robes, calls to make sure we were doing well, and on, and on and on. I would highly recommend this location if you are ever staying in Budapest.

    The hotel incorporates a contemporary structure with 13th century remains. It has 322 completely refurbished guest rooms including 23 suites, a Presidential Suite and 73 Executive Floor rooms and facilities to welcome disabled guests are also available. The "Hilton Room Plus" accommodations offer a stunning view of the River Danube and the City of Budapest (we got one of those rooms). In addition, the rooms are comfortable for both working and relaxing, feature air conditioning, security key card system, built in safe, three IDD telephones, wireless internet access, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. One of the best things about this hotel is that we got to stay here for free...well we used Hilton Honors Points to stay at a 5-star hotel for free...you can't beat that!!!

    This great hotel is locate in the heart of Buda. It is very strange hotel because it has got a tower bell. This tower bell is a ruin of a Dominica Church of S. Nichols and you can see on it the statue of King Matyas. Today all the ruins of the church are integrated with the Hilton Hotel made by bela Pintér in 1976. The facade on the street is a baroque style, while the other facade in front of the Fishermen Bastion is made qith glass and steel.

    We were wondering what was this big ugly building at the right of St Matthias church... We were thinking of some state building from the communist period! What was our surprise to discover it was in fact the Hilton!!
    That's a shame to defigure like that the historic Castle District; part of the World Heritage designated by the UNESCO...
    Even worse they are proud of that since they use it as a marketing argument...
    Sure the clients should have a beautiful sight from their room!! I have just checked it, this is one of the preferred hotels of my company in Budapest. If they ever send me there for business, I'll definitely chose one of the other available hotels by solidarity with the people who have to stand the sight of this crap...

    The Hilton service is impeccable and here was no exception. It has all the facilities one would expect - other than a pool.
    Mathias Church right next door.
    Buda catacombs withing 10 minutes walking distance.
    Royal Palace 15 minutes walking distance.
    Fisherman Bastion right next door.
    Oscars Bar 15 minute walk.
    Pest makes for a lovely 20 minute walk, take the funicular there & back to the Danube.

    The view from my room was spectacular, Parliament, Fisherman Bastion, all of Pest lay before me - incredible!!!!

    Beside the fact that this is a 320 rooms 5 star luxurious hotel , the location of the hotel - right in the middle of Unesco's world heritage site , Budapest's castle district , is great.

    One of the hotel wings is an old church from the 13th century if i am not wrong so you can see it also.

    A luxurious hotel with a few restaurants , good service and great views.


    The location is very good - view over the parliament and close to the fishermen bastion and matthias church.
