Easiest way by foot. It's about 300m distance. Or take tram 47/49 (1st stop).

Take tram 47 (in direction Budafok) or 49 (dir. Kelenfoldi palyaudvar) to Moricz Zsigmond korter (3 stops) and take bus 27 to Busulo Juhasz (Citadella) stop (7th stop, the one after Kelenhegyi ut 45., note: don't count the first stop the bus passes, that's for night routes only). This takes you almost to the top.

Travel Tips for Budapest

Communcation

by Heniko

Hungarian is a notoriously difficult language to learn as it's not similar to any other European tongue. Listening to locals speak or looking at written notices can leave a tourist feeling helpless and baffled. Fortunately, you'll find that many young people have enthusiastically taken to learning English (as they rightly see it as the language of business or their key to a well paid job with a foreign employer). German is spoken by a significant number of older Hungarians. So chances are, you'll be able to get by without too many problems.

However, a few well-chosen words of Hungarian will endear you to local people. Indeed, you may even make a friend for life! While pronunciation is difficult, Hungarians won't worry as they'll be pleased that you made an attempt to speak their language.

If all else fails, remember the phrase "Beszél itt valaki angolul?". It simply means does anyone here speak English?

The 2nd Classical Performace...

by coceng

Here on these photos, I shall share with you guys some amazing first time experiences for me seeing the Classical performances !
It was great !
My host Alain accompanied me in the 2 Opera Theaters that he took me.
This was during the break time of the performance; We can buy something to eat or drinks...& discuss the show maybe for about 1/2 hour.
The photo is showing Alain who's lining up to get me a drink !

No holding hands with your children?

by Dabs

We wondered what these signs could possibly mean, could you not hold hands with your children? Or men and children not allowed?

In reality it signifies the end of the pedestrian only zone on Vaci Utca but that's rather evident as you see the cars whizzing by.....

Exposition in M1 metro line

by MedioLatino

Andrássy avenue offers you an amazing variety of beautiful buildings, no wonder it is listed as a World Heritage!

You want to know more about their history, original builder/owner, stlye, etc?

Just get on the M1 underground which goes all along under the avenue and check the exposition panels in the stations which tell you more about the buildings near the actual station!
