Budapest Nightlife couple in our 30s

by AmsterdamBokkie

We're planning our 1st trip to Budapest coming Feb. Arriving on a wednesday, leaving on a saturday. We're a couple in our 30s and want to taste the nightlife of Budapest. However we're not looking for any loud techno clubs filled with students in their early 20s. Here's an example night out:

1st starting with a few drinks in a cozy bar, next going to a good restaurant for an excellent meal with good wine before ending up in some fancy lounge club with good looking (but not too young) people preferably later 20s, 30s, 40s sipping cocktails. The lounge club can also be traded for for some club/bar crossover ;-)

Does anyone have any tips on places we should go to?

Travel Tips for Budapest

Lian Thai Massage and Spa

by azz8206

One of the best, if not the best, massage I have ever received. The rooms are clean and spacious and have a warm feel to them. They have many massages to choose from like chocolate, Tibetan, magic honey, scented oil and many more. I chose the scented oil massage and got to choose the scented oil that I wanted. Prices for the oil massage are 11,000HUF, or about 40euros, for an hour and 13,000HUF, or about 50euros, for 90 minutes. They also have a couples room with a jacuzzi and all rooms are equipped with a shower. You can tip the masseurs if you want but it isn't mandatory.
There are two locations to choose from, one on Raday U. 30 and the one I went to on Wesselenyi U. 9 which is behind the Dohany Street Synagogue.
Hours of operation are everyday 9am to 9pm.
You can visit their website at www.lianmassage.hu/

Beautiful sundown

by m-joy

We had great luck to watch a beautiful sunset on Buda hill, which was an impressing experience. Isn’t it most beautiful as long as the sun stands closely above the horizon as a big fireball, Win??? ;-))

Inside the Innercity parish church III-details

by 1courage

In this tip I show you some precious altars/objects of this church.
On poth side of the internal, just between the baroque and the gothic parts there is a chamber with hosts two marble altars created at the beginning of the 1500`s in renassaince style.
Also the crypt is to be visited where there is the lapidary, with the stones of the different periods of the construction of this fantastic church wich is considered the oldest building of Pest.

Having a beer in Hungary?...

by TomTomi

Having a beer in Hungary? (Yes, I know, not just one;)

Well, when raising your pint, don't make contact with the glasses! Hungarians consider that to be an Austrian custom. (Your homework is to find out why that is a bad thing:)

But it's ok with other types of joyfull beverages...#)

A Trip Through The Past On The Danube

by cmarsek

My friends and I took the night boat ride (with 2 glasses of wine) on the the Danube River. The tour went up and down the Danube River with video screens and audio head set devices for your to jouney through the history of this magnificent city. I spent much of the trip on the outside deck taking night time pictures of the city. It was cold but well worth it! Since I was outside and had missed much of the tour commentary I bought a DVD of their video.

This was a very valuable experience especially on a bitterly cold night when roaming the city streets on foot for those views was not as desirable.

You can easily find the boat and docking station on the Danube River. They offer several tour variations of 1-2 hours in length in OVER 30 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES!! Check out the website below.
