Airport Transfer

by julie1705

Arriving in Budapest at 19.30 and need to get to Hotel Normalfa on the outskirts of town, any suggestions/approx cost?

Many thanks

Re: Airport Transfer

Hi Julie,

When I visited Budapest I used a very good minibus service. It's operated by the LRI airport authority and will take you to any hotel in the city. You buy a ticket at the Airport Minibus desk in the arrivals hall. The same bus will come to pick you up at your hotel for the return journey if required. You will probably have to share it with other people and drop them off at other hotels, but I didn't find that a problem. I can't remember how much it cost but it was very reasonable.

Alternatively, there is an individual shuttle service advertised on the airport website which looks good -

I hope you have a good time in Budapest. It's a beautiful city.

Hi Julie
We used the airport shuttle bus in 2005 when we stayed at normafa
it was good and reasonably priced ( i think around 3500 return- although it will have increased by now)
the hotel is good too
enjoy budapest

You can get there with public transport with 3 transfers:
- take bus 200E to Kobanya-Kispest metro station, last stop, 20-25 minutes
- transfer (stairways only!)
- then metro M3 to Deak Ferenc ter, 10th stop, 20 minutes
- transfer (escalators available, this transfer is free)
- take metro M2 in direction Deli palyaudvar to its terminal stop, 10 minutes
- transfer (escalators or ramps available)
- take bus 90/90A in direction Csilleberc or Normafa to Normafa stop (bus 90A terminates there; on bus 90, just look for the hotel and signal for getting off immediately as you pass the hotel), 20 minutes
This will cost you 900 HUF ~ 3.5 EUR.

Travel Tips for Budapest

Walk along the Danube at...

by thall89553

Walk along the Danube at night. The scenery is spectacular with all the lights on the buildings shining brightly. ( for more pics of my visit, go to my web site, ) Eating Goulash would have to be my fondest memory. I had always wanted to do so in Budapest, and having done so fulfilled a lifelong dream!

Street Scenes

While I was walking around one evening on Vaci I heard some wonderful music from the distance. The music had a wonderful melody with flutes and chimes so I followed the music and was pleasantly surprised.

The musicians where dressed in Indian attire. From what I could gather, it was more like Native South American wear. The music was so lovely and there was a large crowd gathered around them. Apparently they also have their music recorded for sale.

Pick up some local handicrafts

by obcbreeze

We're on Castle HIl looking around and we see this lady stiching a table runner. Her work was beautiful. So we left with a couple, which are prominently displayed in our living room. I'm not sure if we paid too much or not, but it was an experience and we still enjoy looking at them.

Healing baths?

by belgianchocolate

We visited a bath every single day of our trip
and enjoyed it a lot. After that week my skin
had never feld that smooth.

But it doesn't work for your hair... my hair was
as dry that it would probably catch fire if I walked
too long in the sun. And it looked like one of
those bushes that has to roll over the screen
in those very warm and desolated villages
in westernmovies.So take some conditioner
with you. Some extra towels wont hurt either.

Another thing to take with you when you go bathing
is something to put on your head.
Only the géllert bath provides a ridiculous
blue double plastic thing to put on your head.
At the other baths if there is a swimming
section you need to bring it yourself.

Don't forget.

The Chess Playing Hungarians

by robertbaum

Hungarians seem to like chess. The picture of the chess players in the Szechenyi Bath is famous and they really do it there, maybe every day some people meet and play. You can see chess playing Hungarians in other places as well. This picture was taken in the main street Váci u.
