Superior tourist class hotel SW of Buda

Park Hotel Flamenco
Taz Vezer Utca 7
Budapest, Hungary
Phone 361-889-5600
Fax 361-889-5701

This is a large superior tourist class hotel located southwest of the Gellert hill on the Buda side of the Danube. It is a bus or tram ride from the city center and most tourist sights. It is not near the metro, and airport access is limited to the public airport mini-shuttle (2,500 HUF one way in October 2008, tickets available at the front desk). Taxis are also available, but I try to avoid them when possible.

The hotel is large and has pleasant rooms, some of which overlook the park across the street. Windows can be opened for fresh air when the weather is good. If a third bed is in the room, space is tight. The bathroom is small but efficient.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Since I had an early morning departure, they made an included box breakfast for me to take along (the breakfast buffet did not start until 0700).

This is a well run hotel which caters to tour groups. The location is not ideal for individual sightseeing, but public transport is accessible, and the location probably tempers the price. Since I was on a pre-paid package tour, I cannot comment on the price or value.

Not that great

The hotel is too far away from the interesting sightseeing locations of the city centre. Although there is a tram line right accross the street from the hotel I like some interesting locations to be in walking distance from my hotel. This was a bit of a dissapointment for me.
Additionally no appealing bars and/or restaurants seem to be in the vicinity of the hotel. The park right accross the street is nice for a walk during daytime but in the evenings I would advise people to stay out of it. Quite some teenage gangs and drunks seem to hang around there at nighttime.

Rooms in the hotel are OK, not too big but big enough for business people: there were 2 single beds, a small desk and a table with 2 chairs available in the room. Next to that there was a (rather blurry) TV and minibar available as well.

Food and drinks options are rather limited and to me the restaurant and bar are not appealing at all. There is a pianist as of 8 PM and, contrary to the saying, he should be shot on the spot. This is probably the worst piano player i've ever heard.

Unique Quality: For business people probably one of the plusses for this hotel is the wireless internet available throughout the whole hotel. To access it you can buy code-cards at the reception desk of a certain period of 'access time'.

The pool and fitness area are supposed to be very nice, but unfortunately I didn't have a chance to try them yet.

No Flamencos but a great hotel!!!

Stayed in the Park Flamenco for four days before Christmas. Had a really great deal, pay for three nights and get the fourth free!!! The hotel is superb although it was busy as there are loads of business types there in different seminars.

On arrival we got upgraded to the top club, only needed to go down a floor to have breakfast in a private area for people on the top floors, also was a bar there for the evenings.

The location is a bit away from the centre but there is a tram line right outside which provided connections to all of the city. Could see the liberation momument on Gellerthegy from our room, was amazing in the night when it was all lit up.

The service was great, especially in the Columbus coffee shop where we had some superb meals. The rooms are a good standard, a nice bath and a powerful shower!!

The only problem with the hotel is the appearance, it looks like a large block but in a city that suffered so much in the war you cannot expect to get much better.

Unique Quality: Superb fitness suite!!

convenient, economical, and practical

Just last week I stayed in this hotel for about 60 Euro -- The room was very nice with all amenities, it was quiet in a park-like setting and a short walk to both tram and bus so that I was ten minutes from the center of Pest. Also just around the corner was a local pub in the event I wanted to have a coffee or beer but not in the hotel.

Unique Quality: Setting in a park
