Aquaworld

by kosta1

Hello, I would like to go to Aquaworld and I would like to know some information. Is it crowded during weekend? Is better to go during week? Thanks

Re: Aquaworld

It's new, and it's wintertime with open-air water parks closed, so as I hear it, it gets crowded in the weekend. By the way, there's no such water park around the city - all we had before Aquaworld opened, were open-air places. So if you can manage, try to make it during the week. And it's cheaper then, too.

Getting there takes about 30-45 minutes from the city center, being located at the outskirts of the city.
Take metro M3 in direction Ujpest-Kozpont. You have two options:
1. On workdays in peak hours, get off at Ujpest-Varoskapu. Take bus 122 to Homoktovis iskola stop. (After a 10-minute journey, the bus reaches a roundabout and turns left. Don't get off immediately after the intersection - that's stop Homoktovis utca. You need Homoktovis iskola. Most stop names are clearly signposted under the bus stop sign, so sit in the front of the bus to have more time to read them.)
2. At other times, get off the metro at the terminal stop. You need bus 30 (not 30A) in direction Kaposztasmegyer, Mogyorodi-patak (not Keleti palyaudvar M). To find its stop, look for the Ujpest City Hall building - the nicest building around the square. The bus stop is located opposite that building. Take this bus to Homoktovis iskola (for details, check above).

Once at Homoktovis iskola, turn left, facing the school and walk to the next crossroads. There's Tofalva utca crossing Homoktovis utca. Turn right and walk straight until you reach Aquaworld. It's a 0.5 km walk.

View to the Government

The Parliament building, which has become the symbol of the capital, was built between 1880 and 1902 to the designs of Imre Steindl. The alluvial soil of the Danube bank had to be reinforced by a two- metre (7 ft.) deep concrete foundation so that it support the colossal building, which is 268 metres (300 yds.) long and 123 metres (140 yds.) at its greatest width has ten courts, 27 gates, and 29 staircases. The exterior of the building is adorned with lace-like Gothic pinnacles and 88 statues representing Hungarian rulers princes and military commanders. On the Danube side an unbroken line of arcades dominates the building, with neo-Gothic and neo-Renaissance motifs. In the centre of the building, in Kossuth Lajos tér, is the main entrance, flanked by bronze lions, behind which the ornamental staircase leads to the hall under the dome.

The Parliament Building. It is the largest building in Hungary and was based on the Houses of Parliment in London. The Dome is spectacular. As you can see from the picture...they were doing some work on it when I was there!

In my first moment i didnt realize that when you meet a girl in BUDAPEST you dont have to kiss her as we do in southern europe where more is not such complicated...so just shake your hands... if you see some other day hanging out then you can kiss her on the chicks but just after meet her..

Have dinner at Kehli Vendeglo

by franinmuc

We found this restaurant recommended on Trip Advisor and although it is a bit far out, we decided to go all the way there. It is located on the Buda side, on the upper end, on the same level as the top of Margit island. We were not disappointed. This was one of our best Hungarian meal experiences in Budapest.

The Kehli is an old inn - founded 1899. Ask for a seat in the courtyard. They have live musik every night. We saw (or rather heard) many Hungarians at the restaurant which means that it is a place frequented by locals - a good sign.

Service was up to standard, food was good, wine was good, musik was nice. Go with an appetite.

Full cycle in Buda Hills - 1st step

Full cycle in Buda Hills
Step 1: Cogwheel Railway in Buda Hills.
If you want to break away from the busy town and the must to see tourist attractions it is also easy in Budapest. Just head to Buda Hills and take some time in green. You should start with the Cogwheel Railway (Fogaskerekû Vasút). It is run by BKV (Budapest Public Transport Co.), so your ticket or day pass will be valid on this too. Its lower end stop is just a couple of stops by tram No. 56 from underground stop 'Moszka Tér'.
The upper end is on Szabadság Hegy/Hill.
