On the junction of a busy road and the tram

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 2, 2011

Good things first: clean bathrooms, nice cafe with internet, great patio under trees, rooms crammed but clean, convenience stores are close and city is within easy reach by tram 61

But what a noisy place! Huvosvolgyi ut is an important exit road from the city. It's very busy and drivers like to accelerate looking forward to the nice straight stretch ahead. It was impossible to sleep in the room facing the road. I doubt the back rooms are any better as they face the tram rails.

Would not recommend this place unless you don't want to sleep there!

Nice place outside the center

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on June 30, 2006

We stayed here for a week. We choose this place because it was cheap and because we wanted to stay a little out of the city center to avoid noise, traffic and all the hassle of a big city. Well, this place is outside the city center, but it wasn't that quiet as the road with some traffic was on one side of the hostel and the tram ran on the other side of the hostel.

Still, it was ok, and we had a nice time here. We paid 39 euros for a double room (not including breakfast)

Unique Quality: We had a private double room on the top floor. Because it was on the top floor the ceiling was low and not vertical. Luckily we aren't that big, so we didn't hurt our heads. The hostel lacks the final touch as it all seems to be done in a hurry by bad tradesmen. But everything is clean and funcionally.

There are also dormitories on the other floors. On our floor there were 4 rooms and 1 toilet and one bathroom with shower and toilet.

On the bottom floor, there is a reception area with a lounge. There are a computer with free internet, and you can buy breakfast and beverages. The breakfast was ok, but the price was a different one each day even though we had the same food, That didn't seem professionally. The coffee was often cold, and when we complained they gave us another one and said it was because it was the first coffee the mashine had made that day, that happened several mornings, and it was annoying, as they knew about the problem.

Directions: Take tram no 56 at 'Moszkva tér' and go 7 stops until 'Kelemen László' station. From that tram stop walk 100 meters straight ahead beside the rails and the hostel will be in front of you.
