The buildings in the riverfront
by Neit
One of the nicest things I have found in Budapest are the buildings that are in the border of the river. If you pay attention ,while you are walking for any of the riverfronts, to the buildings that are opposite to you, you could find a surprise like that.
MONEY MATTERS
by cheesecake17
The Hungarian currency is the FORINT or HUF...While i was there I found they took both currency, euro and huf......only once at the airport while leaving, I payed in euro and got back some change in euro and huf....not sure if its a good deal.....
I also found that when I payed in euro they had problem giving change back....it seems that euro coins where not available..In general I payed in HUF most times....as they where many CAMBIOS to choose from and the exchange rate was good...(june 2006, 271-275huf to the euro)
Forint comes in COINS, 1,2,5,10,20,50,100..
Banknotes, 200,500,1000,2000,5000,10000,20000...
I heard a story by one of my guides, in which he said that a Taxi driver had given a passenger some change back in romanian currency...the passenger had no idea he had been given the wrong currency.....so PLEASE check on the internet the looks of a currency of the country you are visiting if you are not familiar with it.....

Árpád Bridge & Margaret Bridge...
by zwack
Árpád Bridge & Margaret Bridge Árpád Bridge to the north, and Margaret Bridge to the south connect Margaret Island with the city. The island is 2.5 km (1.4 m.) long, 500 m (550 yds.) wide, and it covers 225 acres. In contrast to similar islands in other great cities, this one has not been built over, but has remained a huge park in the heart of the city. In the Middle Ages cloisters were built on the 'Rabbits' Island', as it was then called at the beginning of the nineteenth century members of the royal family living in Buda transformed it into a landscape garden. By the turn of the century it had become a health resort owing to its therapeutic springs.

Firefighter's Museum
by TexasDave
We found this accidently in a brochure we picked up at the hotel. The address listed is: X. Martinovics Ignacz ter.12. It is part of a fire house on the Eastern fringe of the city. For a firefighter though, it is a must see! They have an extensive collection of memorabilia, from Roman times til now with very nice displays. You'll even get a guided tour, but only in Hungarian (we had a local with us who translated). Highly recommended!!
