Cheap but far away from the city!

+ Cheap. Breakfast included. Comfortable beds.
- Disgusting showers. Unfriendly staff. Very far from the city centre.

It's got a ceiling and four walls holding it up...

If you're backpacking around Europe and staying in Budget accomodation, you've got to expect some very basic living conditions at some stage.

The Hotel Griff Junior, at under a tenner a night per person, is exactly that...a ceiling with four walls holding it up, and some air in between. Perfect! They even give you a bed, some sheets to sleep under (clean ones!) and a window to look out of.

The showers and toilets are communal and don't smell too great. The breakfast is about as basic as you can get - tea, coffee, a bit of bread, and a few slices of ham and cheese.

If you were coming here on holiday expecting a hotel, you'd move somewhere else. But if you're hiking it on a tight budget, it'll do OK.

Unique Quality: There's hundreds of rooms in this place, so you might even get to meet some other people.

The place is about a half an hour walk from the Danube, but luckily there's a tram stop right outside, and the two trams running from it will take to right to the heart of the city.

A very good youth hostel!

Just next to the fancy Griff Hotel, you'll find this nice hostel located in the southeast of the city. Although the accomodation, expectingly, won't be fancy, it's going to be more than enough to offer a few nights to stay and roam the city! Also, easy to connect to the city - tram lines from there will take you to the center in a snap!

Unique Quality: Huge rooms! I was so suprised when I saw how big a 4-bedroom is! You can play soccer inside, literally! The bathroom facilities weren't such a charm though, prepare for troubles in that area :)

More about Hotel Griff Junior

In Hungary it could be a good idea to go to an hostel.
There are lots of hostels in this country,in all the biggest cities and the most important tourist resort. They are clean, safe and cheap.
I went to an hostel in Budapest, called 'Griff and Griff junior hostel'.
From 750 to 3500 Hun. Forint (because of the different rooms-2,3,4 beds, with shower or only with the sink.) It is big, more than 600 beds,it gets a restaurant, a bar,the baggage-room,the parking. Moreover,it's open 24 hrs.a day, clean, cheap and always full of people, tourists from all the countries and Hungarian students, because the Hungarian universities use the hostels as accomodation for the people who aren't resident in the city where they are studying so if you go to an hostel it's easier to meet people and find friends.Of course the hostels are a good solution especially if you travel with a group.
