More about Hotel Palazzo Zichy
One of the best hotels we've ever stayed at!
We stayed at Hotel Palazzo Zichy for a total of 5 nights and wish we could have stayed longer. The decor is amazingly sleek and contemporary, yet classy. The junior suite we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was spectacular with a good selection. The front desk and bar staff were both extremely friendly, helpful, and fun to talk with. The location was terrific-right near a tram stop and within walking distance of restaurants and grocery stores.
Perfect boutique hotel in Budapest
The Hotel Palazzo Zichy is an immaculate, ultra-modern and beautifully designed boutique hotel in a restored building in a residential neighborhood of Budapest. The staff is friendly, professional and very helpful. Our room was not huge, but very well laid out, and every design detail -- from the painted glass bathroom door to the stainless steel fixtures -- was stylish and classy. The inviting reception area sits in the middle of an airy atrium, and to the right is a small lounge offering free cappuccinos, soft drinks and snacks. Upstairs is a small business center with several computers (also free), and there is a free wi-fi signal throughout the hotel. On the lower level is a beautiful dining room where an ample and excellent buffet breakfast is served (included in our room price). The only potential drawback is the location: It is situated in a residential neighborhood behind the Hungarian National Museum, a bit of a walk from the center of town and the other major hotels. But the neighborhood has its charms (we discovered a "restaurant row" -- Raday Street -- nearby, with trendy sidewalk cafes) and the city is very easy to navigate. If you're looking for modernity, business amenities, cleanliness, efficiency and professionalism -- all at a very reasonable rate -- this hotel can't be beat.
Fully meeting expectations
My wife and I spent a 3-night short break in Budapest at the Palazzo Zichy in May, and our experience aligned exactly with Tripadvisor reviews. The hotel is clean, modern (but in an old building) and located in a quiet pleasant area within easy walking distance of the city centre, although the nearby cafes and bars are also interesting and worth patronising. The rooms are small but well appointed, with comfortable beds and excelent bathrooms. A few earlier correspondents have mentioned that the room lighting wasn't really bright enough to read a book for any period, which was true. It was also a little warm (as are very many hotels) but the window could easily be opened. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Last, but not least, the reception staff were outstanding, answering every question easily and informatively in a friendly manner.
Going to Budapest? Stay here!
It's a great hotel in a great location! we loved it!
Very nice breakfast buffet
Nice rooms (everything is topclass!)
Everything is clean and shiny
Serviceminded /helpful staff
Good location -close to the tram station, walking distance to basically everything
Did I mention the great breakfast!?
the hotel really deserves a top mark but there is two things that puts the rating down.
- the beds are really hard! (maybe too new?)
- it is not so much privacy in the bathrooms, no lock and not sound proof
(the glass doors is not very sound proof and may not be the best thing for a "first-date-romantic-weekend" however this can be solved by using the nice and clean toilets downstairs or maybe one of you can go for a walk if the toilet privacy is an issue.)
But I highly recommend this hotel! we had an awesome weekend and really enjoyed our accomodation!
An excellent hotel where the staff are friendly and truly helpful
I stayed at the hotel for three nights and was really impressed.
My bedroom was bright and decorated in a contemporary mode. Free 24 hour WIFI in all bedrooms.
The breakfeast is buffet style with a great selection.
The staff are really friendly and went out of their way to help me.
There is a good selection of restaurants and bars nearby and Andrassy street is a ten minute walk.
excellent hotel at very good value
We stayed there for 3 nights at the end of April after reading T.A. reviews, we got good internet rates and it was a very nice surprise. The hotel is in a central area, but not in the centre, in a nice neighbourhood, the restauration is amazing, the only available staff is at the front desk and they are very helpful with restaurant and taxi reservations. If I have to find a fault is with the too dim lights in room and lounge, very cosy and romantic but not good for reading books or maps.
Great hotel, but ...
the location was quite poor given the standard of this near immaculate hotel. Staff was helpful & friendly, and they made extra effort wherever possible. Design of the hotel and rooms were very high quality (even the staircase was almost art). Room was very clean and spacious, and offered great value for money (which may be a result of the location). My only complaint was there was no A/C in the room, and it was a little warm at night.
the bad part was the neighbourhood ... to the south was OK, but in any other direction, it was a little sketchy, especially at night (recall they dont have many street lights in Eastern Europe).
Fantastic in every way--the BEST!
Our arrival was like coming to Oz. The hotel is beautiful, the staff very efficient and helpful. Breakfast is sumptuous in a gorgeous atmosphere. Our room had ultra-modern features. It's very quiet. It's 5-star all the way. The hotel is just a short walk from the Metro, line 3, at Kalvin Terrace. I was sorry to leave. The web pictures are absolutely authentic. A must stay.
Form over function
I booked the Hotel Zichy as a place to recover from my trans-atlantic jet leg before embarking on a two month tour around Europe. What I primarily want to do when getting over jet leg is sleep. But, I found the beds here to be uncomfortable; they did not seem like four star beds at all. Also the room was disturbed often by sounds of my neighbors and the cleaning staff. Again, much louder than I would ever expect of a four star hotel. For comparison I spent my previous night in the Westin Bristol Place in Toronto and the bed was amazingly comfortable and the room silent. If you like hard beds and sleep deep these two might not bother you.
On the bright side, the hotel is lovely and the staff are fantastic. There's free breakfast and wifi and the lobby is gorgeous. I just wish they had spent more time designing their rooms for comfort as well as for simple lines. The thin mattress looks nice and low, but feels as thin as it is.
If you want to feel cool then stay here. If you want to be comfortable (and you have hips/want quiet) find another location.
Very good hotel
