Hotel Pest?

by RonK623

I am Planning a July trip to Budapest. Does anyone have any knowledge of the HOTEL PEST ? Is it in a convenient location for a first time tourist? Also, could you recommend a good guide or tour operator for a first day city tour to get the city "overview"?

Hotel Pest is a very good choice. Location is perfect, the hotel is nice. Few minutes walk to the danube and the walking street, and you are in the middle of the more vibrant and more local part of the city, near to Liszt square and Oktogon.

Which of the following hotels will you recommend for a family of 2 adults and 2 children. I need a hotel centrally and neat.

1. Hotel Pest
2. Hotel Victoria

I suggest Victoria if it is one on the Buda side. Thats a small but extremely clean hotel, and is in the most beautiful area of the city. I do not know the other anyway.

Definitely Victoria! It's on the bank of the Danube and just as easily accessible as Hotel Pest (near the Opera House).

But well, it's also up to what you are planning to do! If you come for an opera weekend with some Heroes Square and Andrassy Avenue walks, then Hotel Pest (steps away from these) is the one to chose! ;)

Accommodation in Budapest for Long Weekend

by jeffa79

Hi there,

I'm thinking of taking my girlfriend away for a long weekend in Budapest for her birthday, as my treat, at the end of February. I'm therefore looking for somewhere nice, fairly central (we're there 3 nights so 2 and a bit days of exploring the city) and reasonably priced.

Does anyone have any good suggestions (3 star or around about)? I've seen loads of stuff on the web but it's hard to know who to trust and who not to?

Ibis hotels are good value, basic, modern and very clean - I stayed at the Emke one (next to Blaha L Ter underground station) and I would say it was 3 star - quite central - 10-15 min walk to Elizabeth Bridge and we took a City Tour to all the main sights which picked us up from the hotel(reserved through hotel reception). They have other hotels in the city centre too - one near the main sight of Heroes Square. Our hotel was 59 Euros, but this was a couple of years ago - best check website.

We paid 67€ per night including taxes and breakfast at Ibis Vaci ut.

It seems like the Emke is more central. Is that the case?

I can confirm that Hotel Pest is a good one. There is a new 3 star next to the Basilica which is also great and I think it's even cheaper.
